(Minghui.org) A Wuhan City, Hubei Province resident in her 60s has been forced to live away from home to avoid being arrested for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Below is Ms. Cui Changyu’s own account.

I was doing house chores for my mother in her 90s on January 4, 2021, when a group of police officers knocked on the door.

I refused to open it. After waiting outside for half an hour, they began to pick the lock. Just as they were about to break in, I opened the door and saw three officers.

I asked why they picked my lock. One of them said I had been reported and showed me surveillance footage of me distributing materials about Falun Gong. I said that I didn’t break any laws by raising awareness about the persecution. But the police wouldn’t listen and pushed me down the stairs from the third floor to the first floor. Two more officers showed up, and together they carried me into the police car.

I was taken to the Zhongnanlu Police Station. They tried to take my photos, but I refused to cooperate. Irritated, several officers punched me in the face. One of the officer’s police ID number was 71541.

As a result of the beating, I couldn’t open my eyes and my head was swollen. Then two officers stomped on my left foot with their leather boots. My foot immediately swelled up, and I was unable to walk normally.

The police then took me to the hospital to have my blood sample taken. They kept my hands cuffed behind my back. One officer said to the doctor, “Take more blood from her, because she didn’t cooperate with us.”

After taking me back to the police station, the police tried to collect my fingerprints. I clenched my fists tightly and they still couldn’t open them up after half an hour. Then two more officers came and said as long as I gave my fingerprints, they would let me go home. I knew they were trying to deceive me, so I still refused to cooperate.

I was taken to the Wuhan City No.1 Detention Center the next day and held there for 12 days.

Only a day after I came back home, staff members of the residential committee came to harass me and demand that I sign statements to renounce Falun Gong. They also threatened my family members that they would be implicated if I didn’t sign the statement.

The police also harassed me a few days later, forcing me to live away from home to avoid being arrested again.
