Additional Persecution News from China – March 5, 2021 (22 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 13 provinces, where at least 47 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Siping City, Jilin Province] Fourteen Practitioners Tried

Fourteen practitioners held in the Siping City Detention Center were tried on September 28, 2020, including Ms. Yu Jianli, Mr. Wang Dongji, Mr. Wang Kemin, Ms. Wang Fengzhi, Ms. Fu Guihua, Ms. Meng Xiangqi, Mr. Meng Fanjun, Ms. Cui Guixian, Ms. Liu Dongying, Ms. Zhang Shaoping, Mr. Han Jianping, Mr. Jiang Tao, Mr. Tan Qiucheng, and Mr. Hou Hongqing’s family member.

The family members of these practitioners called a judge on Friday March 5, 2021, and learned that 14 practitioners were served with verdicts on February 26. Two practitioners were sentenced to seven years and six months in prison. The remaining 12 practitioners were sentenced to seven years in prison.

The family members called the detention center and learned that Monday March 8 would be the deadline for appealing the sentencing, but they had no time to find lawyers.

2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Yujie Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Wang Yujie from the No. 20 Building of Chuntianhuayuan Residential Community, Luyuan District, was arrested around July 21, 2020. She has been held in the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center, and was sentenced to four years in prison. She appealed to the intermediate court. Her family was notified via online text messaging on March 2, 2021, that the second trial will be concluded by May 6.

3. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Six Practitioners Tried

Six female practitioners, including Ms. Liu Guoxiu, Ms. Luo Zhaolan, Ms. Huang Gangjun, Ms. Shen Guofeng, Ms. Du Huizhen, and Ms. Wei Guohua, were arrested by the Xindu District police on December 26, 2019. They have been held in the Chengdu City Detention Center for over a year. Their cases were brought to the Xindu District Court. It was reported that they were tried by the Xindu District Court on March 5, 2021.

In the past five years, the district court has sentenced many Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Chen Yixin and his wife Ms. Zhang Tianqiong were each sentenced to a one-year-and-six-month prison term on September 24 2020. Mr. Wang Guohua was sentenced to a three-year prison term.

4. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhao Bo Held in Detention Center

Mr. Zhao Bo and his wife were arrested by officers from the Mishan Domestic Security Division around February 26, 2021. Their home was ransacked. His wife may have been released. He is being held in the Mishan Detention Center.

5. [Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Zhu Qunqun Remains in Custody

Mr. Zhu Qunqun was arrested by officers from the Panhuang Police Station on October 25, 2020. He was officially placed under arrest by the Dafeng District Procuratorate on December 9. In January 2021, Mr. Zhu’s family filed an application to the Procuratorate for cancellation of the arrest warrant, but the Procuratorate responded that their application was not accepted.

Mr. Zhu’s family filed a complaint in early February to various authorities, regarding illegal acts by Xu Zhiliang (division head of the Yandu District Domestic Security Division and deputy head of the 610 Office) and officers of the Panhuang Police Station when they were handling the case. So far, no answer has been received.

Mr. Zhu is still being held in the Yancheng Detention Center.

6. [Huanggang City, Hubei Province] Elderly Ms. Jiang Arrested

Ms. Jiang, about 80 years old, from Huangzhou District, was photographed and arrested while talking to people about Falun Gong on the street at 9:00 a.m. on March 4, 2021.

7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Wei and Ms. Lin Mengfen Abused in Prison

Ms. Zhang Wei was sentenced to seven years in prison, and Ms. Lin Mengfen to ten years in prison. They are being held in the Shenyang Women’s Prison.

Ms. Zhang was beaten for doing the Falun Gong exercises. After staying on a hunger strike, she was taken to the hospital for force feeding.

Ms. Lin refused to be transformed in the Correction and Intensive Training Ward, and she was forced to sit on a small stool as a form of torture. She was also deprived of using the toilet, resulting in her urinating in her pants.

8. [Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province] Five Practitioners Held in Custody

Five Dafa practitioners are being held in custody:

From Linxia City:Mr. Zhao Yujie, 48, is a former official of Xining Forestry Bureau.Mr. Chen Yongsen, 65, is blind as a result of a workplace injury.

From Linxia County:Mr. Song Zongxiao is 70 years old.Mr. Jia Chunzhen, 75, is currently deaf and blind due to persecution.

The four practitioners appealed to the Linxia Autonomous Prefecture Intermediate Court after they were sentenced to prison.

Mr. Li Jiankui, 73, from Linxia County, retired due to a work injury. He was arrested during the “zero-out” campaign, and is being held in the Linxia County Detention Center. His case was again turned over to the county Procuratorate.

He was arrested in 2012 and taken to the detention center, where he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage due to persecution. He still suffers severe aftereffects, and was taken into custody again. He often feels dizzy.

9. [Guizhou Province] Ms. Tao Xiaozhen Held in Custody for 30 Days in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province

Ms. Tao Xiaozhen, in her 60s, is a retired employee from the Honglin Machinery Factory of Guihang Group. She was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong on April 10, 2020, when she was staying with her daughter in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The Hangzhou police arrested her, and over ten officers ransacked her daughter’s home. They confiscated a computer, Falun Dafa books, and paper currency bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them.

After being held in Hangzhou City for 30 days, she was released on bail on May 10. She is not allowed to go out for a year.

10. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Li Lijun Arrested

Ms. Li Lijun, in her 60s, was arrested at home by twelve police officers at noon on February 21, 2021. Her home was ransacked. Her 80-year-old mother, who lives with her, is anxiously waiting for Ms. Li to return home soon.

11. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Ms. Luo Xinping Tried

Ms. Luo Xinping was arrested on August 18, 2020, by officers from the Xingqing District Domestic Security Division, for distributing ways to stay safe during the plague. She was officially placed under arrest by the Xixia District Procuratorate on September 24.

Around November 26, the Xingqing District Police Department turned her case over to the Xixia District Procuratorate, which in turn brought her case to the Xixia District Court around December 23.

Ms. Luo was tried at 9:00 a.m. on January 12, 2021. Only one family member was allowed to attend in the designated section of the court. Her lawyer pleaded her innocence and demanded her release. The ruling over her case has not yet been announced.

12. [Jingchuan County, Gansu Province] Homes of Ms. Liu Fengchai and Ms. Pan Ransacked

Two officers from the Chengguan Police Station broke into 70-year-old Ms. Liu Fengchai’s home on February 26, 2021, and ransacked the place. They confiscated a cell phone and over 4,000 yuan in paper currency bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them. Ms. Liu was taken to the police station for interrogation and was released on bail.

Over a dozen people, including police officers and residential committee personnel, led by Zhu Chengxu (head of the Jingchuan County Domestic Security Division), broke into 85-year-old Ms. Pan’s home and ransacked the place from 10:00 a.m. to past 4:00 p.m on March 2. They confiscated Falun Dafa books, Minghui Weekly, and other belongings.

13. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Huang Futang’s Home Ransacked

About 16 people, including deputy director Niu Yong from the Jiazhuang Police Station and officer Wang She of the 610 Office, went to Mr. Huang Futang’s home and ransacked the place on the afternoon of March 3, 2021. They said that prior to the two sessions of the People’s National Congress and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, they had to come to check if there was anything suspicious in his home.

The director of the Jiazhuang Police Station and seven or eight people went to Mr. Huang’s home on March 4. They set up a surveillance camera at his home to monitor him. When Mr. Huang went out of town, the Jiazhuang Police Station assigned officer Dong to follow him in a separate vehicle.

14. [Shanghai] Elderly Ms. Xu Fengqing Harassed

Residential officer Dai from the Yanji Police Station in Yangpu District knocked on the door of 86-year-old Ms. Xu Fangqing’s home to harass her at noon on March 1, 2021. Ms. Xu did not open the door.

15. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Xiufang and Husband Mr. Wang Guohai Repeatedly Harassed

Seven or eight officers from the Mulin Town Police Station, Shunyi District, went to Ms. Zhang Xiufang’s orchard at around 10:00 a.m. on March 4, 2021. They asked her to follow them to search her house, but she refused.

The officers went to Ms. Zhang’s home and harassed her and her husband Mr. Wang Guohai at around 10:00 a.m. on March 5.

After the couple’s son died suddenly on August 4, 2020, the officers immediately went to harass the couple despite their mourning the loss of their son.

16. [Zhoukou City, Henan Province] Jia Shouyin Harassed

Officers from the Beiguan Police Station in Huaiyang District went to the home of practitioner Jia Shouyin (gender unknown) and harassed Jia several times in November 2020, when Jia’s children were not at home.

On one occasion, Jia was taken to a detention center and asked to sign paperwork, but Jia refused. Officers forcibly took pictures of and threatened Jia.

17. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Li Shihong Detained

Ms. Li Shihong was placed under administrative detention on February 13 (the second day of the Chinese New Year) for 15 days. She has returned home.

18. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Liu Rong Harassed

Residential officers from the Huifeng Police Station, residential committee personnel, and sub-district committee personnel in Jiancaoping District went to the home of Liu Rong (gender unknown) at around 6:30 p.m. on March 4, 2021. They pressured Liu to sign a three statements document and threatened that if Liu did not sign, they would take Liu to a brainwashing center for a month. Liu refused.

19. [Xinyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Chen Suying Arrested

Ms. Chen Suying from Huangchuan County was arrested by officers from the Huangchuan County Domestic Security Division while doing grocery shopping on the morning of January 27, 2021. She was released that afternoon.

20. [Shanghai] Mr. Kan Zhaohua Followed

The Puxing Road Police Station sent people to monitor Mr. Kan Zhaohua around the clock beginning on March 1, 2021. It was reported that the surveillance would last 15 days, while the two sessions (of the People’s National Congress and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference) were being held in Beijing.

21. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Yang Xiuhua Arrested

Yang Xiuhua (gender unknown) from Shehong County was arrested by twelve people from the Chengnan Police Station, the State Security Division, and the residential committee on February 25, 2021. The officers ransacked Yang’s home and confiscated a computer and audio players.

Yang was first taken to the police station for interrogation, then to Pengxi County for a forced physical examination. Yang was released on bail for high blood pressure.

22. [Shehong County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Shurong Repeatedly Harassed

Two women from the Desheng Recently Community of Taihe Town went to visit Ms. Yang Shurong and tried to photograph her on July 10, 2020. Ms. Yang refused. They photographed Ms. Yang’s husband and said they were following orders from higher authorities.

Two officers from the Taihe Police Station went Ms. Yang’s home on the afternoon of February 3, 2021. Ms. Yang’s husband happened to be outside the door of their home, and the officers asked if he had gone out lately. Officers then asked Ms. Yang whether she went anywhere. Ms. Yang did not answer directly.

Several people from the police station and the residential community went to Ms. Yang’s home on the afternoon of February 5. Ms. Yang was not at home. Only her daughter was there. They quarreled with her daughter during the questioning and left.
