Dafa Saved My Life

(Minghui.org) Dafa saved my life and has always protected me on my path of self-cultivation. I respectfully extend my greetings to Revered Master! Hello, fellow practitioners!

I am a Vietnamese Falun Gong practitioner, and I obtained the Fa in 2014. Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) was officially introduced to the public by Master Li Hongzhi on May 13, 1992. On July 20, 1999, Falun Gong was unjustifiably suppressed by the Chinese Communist Party, which searched for many ways to defame and slander the practice. So, it was not until the early years of the 21st century that Dafa spread to Vietnam. I was fortunate to be born in the same year as Master Li, so I had just turned 50 at the time. I was an atheist and superstitious, and had little interest in religion or belief, so I only superficially listened to what was being said about Falun Gong.

Years later, I was given a copy of Zhuan Falun by a friend from my university days. Perhaps because this friend did not enthusiastically promote it or fate decreed that it was not my time to listen, I did not obtain the Fa. 

Starting on My Path of Cultivation

A year later, in May 2014, I invited that friend and some of my other college friends to a party at my house. I noticed a great change in the friend who had given me Zhuan Falun the year before. The first thing that caught my attention was that he appeared so healthy. He was completely different from his former self, who had suffered many illnesses and had a long medical history. My mind immediately became receptive to the desire to practice Falun Gong. I thought, “If Falun Gong is this good, then I have to practice!” And with that thought, I was instantly blessed by Dafa.

I had suffered from insomnia from the age of 20. This affected me to the point that I sometimes thought it would be easier to die than to live. Yet, as soon as I decided to cultivate, I had a good night’s sleep. I slept like a child after nearly 30 years of this dreadful insomnia. This seemed like such a miracle, and I eagerly began cultivation. 

In the early days I was rather clumsy in my cultivation, due to little formal understanding of the Fa and having no veteran practitioners around to instruct me. I was determined, but made many mistakes and had to realize many things for myself. Before cultivating, I suffered from many illnesses, more than I could count on ten fingers. I nonetheless began to practice without thinking about disease, and no expectation that they would improve, and the ailments gradually disappeared. 

Strangely, a few days after I started, I noticed that something was stuck in my throat, and was worried that it might be a tumor, as I had suffered from chronic sore throat episodes for several decades, often resorting to powerful antibiotics. Concerned, I went to the hospital but the doctor said that my throat was fine. After a few weeks of still feeling the strange lump in my neck, I returned for a second exam but got the same answer as before, all normal. I immediately understood. Master was purifying my body for me, pushing from my body the disease that I had suffered from for more than half a lifetime. I refused the medicine the hospital offered me and never returned for that ailment. 

I retired from my professional job in 2011 and have since worked as a tour guide, which is a busy job with lots of travel. Having lived with various illnesses for many years, I did not immediately give up taking medications for such conditions as cardiovascular disease, vestibular disorders, kidney weakness that caused nocturia, cold hands and feet, and pain in my joints due to old injuries. I had begun to cultivate, but my understandings of the Fa were still not very deep. Yet sometimes I forgot to take the pills, and noticed that I did not suffer as a result. I later quit taking these medications. I realized that Teacher was gradually helping my body repair itself. From the age of 13, when doctors discovered that I had a double-leafed palate heart, I had been advised to avoid exertion and not do heavy work. Amazingly, I could now climb mountain peaks of a thousand meters. 

Being Protected on My Path

I also realized that not only was Teacher purifying my body, but he had also saved me miraculously many times. Here are a few examples. I was responsible for getting a group of 40 foreign tourists on a train to the south. It was rush hour, and the car taking us to the station was almost 30 minutes late. I was panicking because the consequences would be unthinkable if we missed the train. The tour guide always assumes full responsibility. I asked Teacher for help, but without much hope because this train only stopped at the station we were leaving from for a few minutes. But a miracle happened. When we entered the station, I saw that the train had stopped in the yard to wait for us. While urging the guests to jump on the train quickly before it whistled and started moving, I realized in the back of my mind that Teacher had saved me.

On another train ride, a member of my group accidentally spilled a full mug of boiling water in my lap. This British visitor was extremely concerned, but I reassured him and went into the toilet to change clothes, all the time asking Master for help. A few hours later, there was no sign of any swelling or redness. The guest who spilled the water was amazed, so I took the opportunity to tell him and the other guests about the miracle of Falun Gong. Another time, I took a group of tourists on foot to visit some remote mountain villages. Suddenly, when we were in the middle of a field, dark clouds filled the sky. None of the visitors had raincoats or umbrellas. The clouds were rolling, and thunder boomed, but it only started to pour when we entered a single house by the road and then completely stopped after about 20 minutes. I immediately understood: Teacher protected us.

Spreading the Truth about Falun Gong

Fortunately, although we obtained the Fa much later than practitioners in China, Falun Dafa practitioners in Vietnam have the advantage that Vietnamese law does not prohibit people from practicing Falun Gong. We can also easily access Dafa materials. Zhuan Falun and Master’s articles have been masterfully translated and can reach readers’ hands very easily. In addition, the audio-visual materials supporting cultivation activities such as the Vietnamese versions of Minghui, Dai Ky Nguyen (Epoch Times), Tan Duong Nhan (NTD), and Chanh Kien (PureInsight), help us to be continuously updated with Dafa’s latest information from around the world. At first, it was just curiosity that made me look at the above pages, but the more I read and the more I heard, the more diligent and determined I became in cultivation. The more I was aware of the evil suppression of the Chinese Communist Party, the more I tried to clarify the truth and expose the CCP’s criminal behavior.

Thanks to my ability in foreign languages, I often send links to the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, "The Specter of Communism Is Ruling Our World” or articles denouncing the crimes of the persecution of Falun Gong in China, in English and Chinese, to addresses in China and around the world. I send the links to individuals, leaders, celebrities, and international organizations. Sometimes when I receive hostile responses, I try to provide more explanation and evidence.

Reading and listening to articles on the Vietnamese Minghui website has now become essential for me to do every day. Not only do I try to read and listen to all the newly posted articles, but I also read and listen to old articles, especially the Minghui Broadcasting “Recollections of Master” that I had missed before. I have shed tears many times reading about the early days when Master overcame difficulties spreading the Fa in China.

I have come to understand that we are halfway around the world from our Master but we know Master’s Fashen (Law Body) is always by our side. Whatever we do, whatever we think, your Law Body knows and compassionately encourages, enlightens, and reminds us. As long as we respect Master and the Fa, take the Fa as our teacher, and have righteous thoughts, we will be Dafa disciples during the Fa-rectification period under Master’s guidance. Master’s book Zhuan Falun is the Fa that I have searched for. It is extremely precious and the Fa-principles exist in everything. With these principles in our minds, we will be enlightened.

I cannot find the words to adequately express my gratitude to Teacher. You are the Maitreya that Shakyamuni Buddha foretold, the Creator who came to this world to transmit the Dharma and save sentient beings, creating for us the most wonderful world—the Falun Dafa World. Every time I look at Master’s picture, I remind myself to be more diligent in my cultivation. We pledge to steadfastly cultivate Dafa to return to our true home. Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!
