(Minghui.org) A Qingdao City, Shandong Province, woman abused in prison while serving 4.5 years for her faith in Falun Gong was diagnosed with uterine cancer. Ms. Lu Yonghua has now been released on medical parole, but the police continue to harass her from time to time.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Lu, 70, was arrested on October 16, 2017, while studying the Falun Gong teachings at Ms. Su Guihua’s home. Ms. Su and her other practitioner-guest, Ms. Yu Xianrong, were also arrested. All three were held in the Pudong Detention Center in the Jimo District.

They were tried in the detention center by the Bei District Court on June 28, 2018. Due to Ms. Su’s high blood pressure, judge Li Jianjun adjourned the session and scheduled a second hearing for July 18.

During the second hearing in July, the judge constantly interrupted the practitioners’ lawyers and rushed through the proceedings.

On March 19, 2019, the judge sentenced Ms. Su to nine years with a 30,000-yuan fine. She is now serving time at home due to her health. Ms. Yu was given six years and fined 20,000 yuan. Ms. Lu was sentenced to 4.5 years with a 10,000-yuan fine.

While serving time at Jinan Women’s Prison, Ms. Lu was repeatedly force-fed and beaten by the inmates. Her health quickly declined and she was diagnosed with uterine cancer. She has been released on medical parole and is in constant pain.
