(Minghui.org) A Dalian City, Liaoning Province resident has been admitted to a local prison to serve 3.5 years for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Zhiqing was arrested and had her home ransacked on June 25, 2020 for talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing information on how to access uncensored internet by bypassing the firewall.
While the police released Ms. Wang shortly after, they deceived her into going to the police station on November 25 by promising to return her confiscated Falun Gong books. They arrested her as soon as she got there.
The police first told her husband that she would be released after three days at the Yaojia Detention Center. But the police never released her and also submitted her case to the procuratorate, seeking a prison sentence.
The Gaoxinyuan District Court held a hearing through a video conference on May 3, 2021 and didn’t allow her family to attend. The judge sentenced her to 3.5 years with a 10,000-yuan fine in June. She appealed the verdict, but it was rejected by the intermediate court. She has been taken to the Yaojia Prison.
As Ms. Wang’s family refused to pay the court fine, the authorities froze their bank account.
