Elevating While Saving Sentient Beings Via Phone Calls

(Minghui.org) Greetings esteemed Master, and fellow practitioners.

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner in Switzerland. I’m in my 80s. Today, I wish to share with Master and fellow practitioners some of my cultivation experiences. Since the middle of March 2020, I began to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa using phone calls. I also hope to help mainland Chinese people quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). This effort is to save sentient beings.

Elevating Xinxing When Saving Sentient Beings Through Phone Calls

I dialed 30 phone numbers on a daily basis, with the exception of weekends when I participated in doing the Falun Dafa group exercises. I met up with all sorts of people – from those who refused to answer the phone to those who rebuked me, cursed, threatened, and so forth. I looked at all of this as my cultivation environment, studied the Fa, and constantly corrected myself. I viewed the saving of sentient beings as an opportunity to cultivate and elevate. Overall, this helped me gain a better understanding of what cultivation is all about, and how to cultivate better.

When talking on the phone I appreciated the interaction with different people and realized that this gave me different kinds of opportunities. I used these opportunities to look inward, cultivate, and constantly elevate. I will share below some examples of how my actions helped me advance.

1. Eliminating the Attachment to Financial Gain

Once, the person who answered the phone said, “I am in trouble and need money. If you don’t give me money I won’t listen to what you are telling me.” I responded that it was important to protect oneself, to save one’s life, and to avoid misfortune. Then, I tried to explain how this relationship works. He said he was not interested in what I had to say and hung up. When I called him again, he refused to pick up the phone.

I hung up the phone and looked within. It was no coincidence that he asked for money. It had to be aimed at an attachment I had to eliminate. When I thought about it I realized that I had a problem dealing with money at the time, and the call hinted about my desire to make a profit.

The story began when my husband was still alive. His friend got from us an entire car load of 32 valuable antiques from our apartment that my husband had collected and treasured over the years. These antiques were very valuable and precious. This friend offered to help my husband with auctioning them off. My husband was very reluctant to sell them, but I persuaded him to go forward with the auction. The agreement was that this friend would receive a 10 percent commission. However, after many auctions nothing was sold.

After my husband died, I took over this business deal. I thought the reason that this friend had not successfully sold the antiques so far was because his commission was too low, so I offered him a 30 percent commission. He agreed, but still did not sell the valuables. I increased it to 50%, but he only gave me a verbal commitment and did nothing.

Soon, more than four years had passed, and the issue remained unresolved. As I kept thinking about this issue more often, I got more distracted, and sometimes I could not concentrate on the project that was saving sentient beings.

One day I dreamed that the light in the basement of our house was broken, and this friend came to my house and help me fix it. At the same time I was cleaning the floor with a vacuum cleaner. When I woke up I realized that this dream was a hint from Master that I needed to purify myself, and that friend was helping me with my cultivation.

Master said,

“Our practice aims squarely at your attachments. What’s key is to try to worry little about your own self-interest and the disputes that might arise with other people.” (The Fourth Talk, Zhuan Fallun)

“As people engaged in spiritual practice we have all the more reason not to be like that. We believe in letting things happen naturally. We know that we won’t be deprived of what is rightfully ours, and shouldn’t labor to get what is not. But not everything is completely set in stone, of course. And that is what makes wrongdoing possible—the very fact that some things may be subject to change. You, however, follow Dafa, and so you needn’t worry about people taking what is rightfully yours, for my spiritual bodies will be looking after you in the normal course of events. So we believe in letting things happen naturally. There might be instances where something seems to be yours, and people might say so too, and you believe it is yours, when in fact it’s not and in the end it goes to someone else.” (The Seventh Talk, Zhuan Falun)

After reciting Master’s Fa I decided that I did not want any of those antiques, no matter how much money they would get me. That was around the Chinese New Year, and this friend called and said that he wanted to visit. I refused to see him, but gifted him the antiques. I thought, “I’m a practitioner and follow the natural course of things. If something is mine, I will not lose it, and I won’t be able to fight for something that is not mine.”

In an instant, the heavy burden that had weighed me down for more than four years was gone. A stone fell from my heart, and I felt very relieved and satisfied.

I believed that by doing this I had already completely let go of my attachment to money. This call made me look deeper within. I realized that I had to let go completely of my attachment to financial gain.

Thank you, Master, for giving me guidance in my dream, and rectifying me with the power of the Fa.

2. Cultivating Compassion While Saving Sentient Beings

The process of saving sentient beings is also a process of cultivating kindness and compassion.

When clarifying the truth, there are always those who do not want to quit the Party. I usually don’t worry about it, nor will I be bothered by it. But, when I met up with people who showed an extreme attitude, who got angry and called me names, I could not handle it well at first. Even if I did not say it, I complained in my mind. After many encounters with such people, I wondered if I should not save them.

Then, I thought, “I am a practitioner, how can I complain about an ordinary person. Is this not because he does not know the truth about Falun Dafa? If he had understood the truth, he would never have chosen to be eliminated. Am I compassionate? Does this not give me the opportunity to cultivate?”

Master said,

“I've told you before that Shan isn't something pretended, nor is it a state that's just maintained on the surface. Shan truly comes from within and can only be attained and embodied through cultivation.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Western U.S. Fa Conference,” Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. V)

Master’s teaching has inspired me and strengthened my sincere thoughts to save sentient beings. For example, in March of this year I dialed a number. A young man answered the phone and immediately started swearing. Realizing how angry he was, I calmly asked him, “Young man, are you angry? Are you draining your positive energy? Isn’t that a strain on your resilience? Now, there are so many disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, and epidemics. We need our good energies. You need to protect yourself.”

When he heard my words, the young man stopped calling me names and said, “Why are you so kind? I called you names, but you didn’t respond in kind. Instead, you are worried about me.” I responded, “I am not blaming you. You scolded me because you did not know the facts. Look, let me give you some advice, and then you will understand.” The young man said in amazement, “You are really not angry!” I replied, “No, I am not angry with you. I only want to help you.”

The young man asked, “Are you a Falun Dafa practitioner?” I replied, “Yes, I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. I want to be a good person who follows the Dafa principles of 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.'” I also want you to have a beautiful future. I have a question for you: Have you ever worn the red scarf [in the CCP youth organization, 7 to 14 year-old children and teenagers have to wear a triangular red scarf around their necks.]

The young man said that he did. He was a member of the Communist Youth League, and later a Party member. I continued to tell him than quitting the Party would bring him peace, and that the Heavens would destroy the CCP. I then explained the true happenings in greater detail. The young man said, “Then I will only listen to Falun Dafa.” I responded that I would give him a pseudonym and record his decision in the resignation list. The young man thanked me sincerely.

Before saying good bye, I asked him to recite “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” He kept thanking me.

I thank Master for giving me the opportunity to cultivate compassion, and at the same time save sentient beings. This is the power of compassion.

3. Sentient Beings Understand the Truth

Master said,

“All sentient beings are waiting to be saved, and I can tell you something certain. If Dafa disciples don’t act to save them, those people, no matter in what corner of the world they may be, will have no hope unless you go to save them.(“Fa Teaching Given at the NTDTV Meeting, Collected Fa Teachings, Vol IX)

A man picked up the phone and asked, “ Are you calling me about quitting the Party?” I said yes, so he said, “I was just waiting for this day.” I asked him, “Why?” He responded, “The Communist Party is so bad, it makes us suffer so much. When it says white, it is white, when it says black, it is black, we have no freedom at all.” I continued, “The background with you is very loud. Are there other people with you?” He said, “Yes, the four of us are playing mahjong right now. We are also cursing the vicious Party, and are having a bad time.” I responded, “I can understand you. Do all of you know about quitting the Party?” Some one from the group in the back shouted, “Yes. We all know about it – we are Party members.”

I continued, “Are you all aware that Heaven will destroy the Party?” The men agreed. I suggested that they should follow Heaven’s will and resign from the Party. They all said, “Great.” One said that he had been waiting for that day. I took the opportunity to say, “Then, I will give you all pseudonyms, and put your name on the CCP resignation list. I wish that this will bring you peace.” The men told me, “We have been waiting for you to help us resign from the Party.” They all agreed to resign.

Then, I asked them if they had children. They said yes and I asked them if they are of school age, Thus, I asked if they wore the red scarf. They all said that the children wore the red scarf. So, I advised them to have the kids withdraw from the youth organizations. Their response was that I was very kind and considerate. They said that two of the children were present. So I advised that they had to agree with the withdrawal or it would not count.

Now, the four men became restless. One said, “What do children know? When they joined the Communist Youth League and the Young Pioneers, we parents took their stand. If they resign now, surely we should also help them and represent their point of view.” I said, “Please help them quit. This is the best thing you can do. We will all be happy when the children have resigned and are safe.” I reiterated that they would have to discuss the issue with the children. They promised to do as agreed.

With one phone call, eight people resigned from the Party, and eight lives were saved. They thanked me for my effort.

On the surface, these living beings were saved by my phone call. However, it was the power of the Fa and Master's blessings. The saving of each life is due to the tremendous commitment and immeasurable contribution by our Master.

Believing in Master and the Fa

It was mid-March when I started making phone calls to China to save people. I made 30 phone calls a day and sat at the computer for three to four hours a day. After about six months, my eyes started to water and hurt, and my vision became blurry. I thought that it may be time to change my glasses, since I had not gotten new glasses in seven years. I had my daughter make an eye doctor appointment. Given the epidemic, the appointment was scheduled for more than three months later.

While waiting for the appointment, another practitioner, familiar with technology, took the initiative to help me increase the font size on the computer to alleviate any vision loss. But that didn't really help, as I was still seeing out of focus. At the same time, my lower back started to hurt from sitting for hours. I thought that I was a practitioner and would just grit my teeth and get over it, but the pain worsened.

At that moment I realized that my thinking was off. I knew that the process of persevering is explaining the true circumstances and helping people to leave the Party, which was at the same time the process of disintegrating the evil Party. I wanted to save living beings, but the old forces wanted to destroy people, so they used evil spirits from other dimensions to weaken my body. When I realized this, I asked Master for help.

Soon I noticed that Master put a protective shield over me. My eyes stopped hurting, my tears stopped flowing, my eyesight was restored, and my back stopped hurting. From then on I spent more time studying the Fa, sent righteous thoughts more often, and did the exercises longer. Soon my body was back to normal. I respectfully thanked Master for protecting me.

My appointment at the ophthalmologist was on December 28, 2020. My daughter wanted to go with me and get me new glasses. I thought, “I will validate the Fa.” So, my daughter and I visited the ophthalmologist.

After a series of tests, the doctor told us, “Your eyesight is very good, even better than it was seven years ago. You don’t need new glasses! It is a miracle that you can still see so well in your 80s.” My daughter agreed and said that it is really amazing that I could see better than her. She told the doctor that her mother is a cultivator, and told him that I practice Falun Dafa. “That’s great – continue to practice,” said the doctor.

Thank you compassionate Master for giving me young eyes. I will certainly do the three things and save sentient beings. Master, please don’t worry about me.
