(Minghui.org) Two Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province residents are awaiting results of their appeal cases against wrongful prison sentences for practicing Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Liu Aihua and Ms. Ren Fengqin were arrested on January 12, 2021 after being followed by the police. The police ransacked Ms. Liu’s home and held her at the Liaoyang City Detention Center.
The Dengta City Procuratorate approved Ms. Liu’s arrest on January 29 and later indicted her. Mr. Liu appeared in Dengta City Court twice, on August 11 and September 6, respectively, before being sentenced to three years in late September.
Ms. Ren, whose case details aren’t available, was sentenced to two years.
Both Ms. Liu and Ms. Ren appealed with Liaoyang City Intermediate Court. The judge held a hearing of their appeal cases on November 26 and hasn’t announced the ruling at the time of writing.
