Overcoming Five Months of Severe Sickness Karma

(Minghui.org) I began having symptoms of a bad cold in April this year. I thought it was karma elimination and did not pay much attention to it at first. But things gradually got worse. My runny nose caused blisters on the skin wherever the mucus touched and I also had a hard time breathing. Since I used to have sinusitis, I thought I was going through a purification process to eliminate the root cause. 

A month later, I had blisters inside and outside of my nose. Later it spread to my lips. My nose was swollen as well. I tried to look within and send forth righteous thoughts, but things did not change much. 

I had a vivid dream. My family and I were at a street corner. There were threshing machines near us. The machines turned on like a tornado trying to suck me in. My clothes were sucked toward the machines. I shouted in my dream: “I am a disciple of Master Li Hongzhi, and I negate all other arrangements...” Before I finished, I saw several cars near the intersection exploding one after another. I was not clear what the dream was about.

Although my mouth healed a month later, my eyes began itching, swelling, and discharging fluid. My husband and daughter were really concerned that I might go blind. I tried my best to console them, “No worries. It is karma elimination. I will be fine.”

Ongoing Physical Persecution

After my husband and daughter went to work, I was suddenly aware that the evil was persecuting me by disfiguring me. I intensified my sending forth righteous thoughts. I was determined to do the three things well and elevate on the basis of the Fa.

I continued to go out to clarify the facts about Dafa. Wearing a mask and sunglasses, I was able to hide my swollen eyes and runny nose. 

I also began to have a toothache. I said to my teeth, “I’m a Fa-rectification period Dafa disciple. My responsibility is to clarify the facts to sentient beings. You shouldn’t interfere with me by causing me pain.”

Although the tooth pain went away soon after, the symptoms with my eyes got worse. The discharge from my eyes was very sticky. They were glued shut at night and I had to use my fingers to open them in the morning. 

They swelled to the point that I could only open them a crack. I began having double vision. As soon as I began sending forth righteous thoughts or meditating, tears ran down my face. I refused to be discouraged and continued sending righteous thoughts. I also began chanting “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” for a long time. There is no way for the evil to wear me down or weaken my will. With the extended sending forth righteous thoughts and chanting the phrases, my eyes improved some but I still had pain.

Distinguish True Self from Notion-Formed Fake Self

One day I came across a sharing article, in which a fellow practitioner discussed the true self vs fake self. I read it once, but not quite sure what it was about. When I read it again, I suddenly realized something – the true self is assimilated to the characteristic of the universe, Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance; and the fake self is formed by various postnatal notions.

I realized that the evil was seizing upon my notions and relentlessly attacking me. The notions were: “It is sickness karma that I should endure; it takes time to eliminate them; and the worse the symptoms, the more thorough the purification of my body.”

I realized that the upper echelon of the old forces had been weeded out in the Fa-rectification, but the mechanism they arranged was still running. I needed to totally negate the arrangement by the old forces. When I sent righteous thoughts from that point on, I focused on eliminating the old forces’ mechanism, from the microcosm to the macrocosm. I negated all old forces’ arrangements, and I would not acknowledge or passively endure it. 

With Master’s help in eliminating the evil, I felt better. Gradually, my eyes were able to open. I was encouraged even more and intensified sending righteous thoughts. In the meantime, I listened to the Fa teachings daily, attentively. 

On August 27, my husband and I drove our daughter to another city to take an exam. We stayed in a hotel. As I was listening to the Fa teachings, I felt electricity going through my hair. I took a look in the mirror and saw the swellings on my eyelids subsided. One week later, crusts formed and my eyes began to heal.

On September 17, I got up in the morning as usual to send forth righteous thoughts. As soon as I closed my eyes, I felt a force pulling my eyelids open, and I saw a hand plucking thorns out of my eyes. It was long and had branches! I know Master had removed the root cause of my eye problem. 

From April to September, I suffered five months of intensive physical pain, but Master has always guided me and endured for me. I can only cultivate myself more diligently to repay Master! Thank you, Master!
