Additional Persecution News from China – September 24, 2021 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 22 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Qiwen Detained in Prison

Mr. Li Qiwen, 54, from Dongguan Village was sentenced to three years and six months on June 10, 2021. He was taken to the Shandong Province Prison on September 9, 2021. 

Mr. Li was arrested by officers from the Linqing Domestic Security Division around December 6, 2020. He was detained in the Linqing Detention Center and was tried online by the Guan County Court on June 4, 2021. At the same time, two other practitioners Ms. Lu Guilan in her 70s and Ms. Zhou Enbo, around 65, were also tried by the Guan County Court.

Before the hearing, Mr. Li was fined 6000 yuan; Ms. Lu, fined 10,000 yuan; Ms. Zhou, fined 6000 yuan. Three practitioners were sentenced on June 10, 2021. Mr. Li was sentenced to three years and six months in prison; Ms. Lu, seven years and eight months executing outside of prison; Ms. Zhou, four years executing outside of prison. 

2. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Xie Wanmeng to Be Transferred to Prison 

Mr. Xie Wanmeng is an outstanding teacher in a Chinese Chess Training Institution. Police from the Luohu District arrested him at home and ransacked his home on May 28, 2019. Mr. Xie was tried in court on October 29, 2020 and was sentenced to three years and six months by the Yantian District Court on April 1, 2021.

Mr. Xie is still detained in B06 Cell in the Yantian District Detention Center. They planned to take Mr. Xie to the Shaoguan Prison on September 8, 2021 but canceled it because the prison was overcrowded. Mr. Xie asked not to go to the prison and to serve the term in the detention center, but was told it was impossible. 

3. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Guifeng and Ms. Wang Sulian Sentenced to Three and a Half Years in Prison and Seven Years in Prison 

It was recently learned that Ms. Liu Guifeng in her 50s was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and Ms. Wang Sulian in her 70s was sentenced to seven years in prison. The two practitioners were arrested when they talked to people about Falun Gong. 

4. [Chongqing] Mr. Xiong Lin Arrested and Detained 

Mr. Xiong Lin, 46, lives in Water Park, Shimaha Mountain, Jiangbei District. He was arrested by officers from the Longshan Police Station in the Yubei District on April 21, 2021. He was placed under official arrest by the Yubei District Procuratorate on April 30, 2021. Mr. Xiong is currently detained in the Yubei District Detention Center. 

5. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Jiang Guangxue Harassed

Three officers from the Sanli Street Police Station in Yaohai District went to 59-year-old Ms. Jiang Guanxue’s home around 9 a.m., on September 14, 2021. They searched her home and then took her to a hotel room to show her their surveillance videos. Ms. Jiang was recorded on the surveillance camera when she distributed truth-clarifying materials. She was interrogated. She was later released and placed under residence surveillance. 

6. [Luohe City, Henan Province] Case Against Ms. Huang Chunlan Submitted to Procuratorate

Ms. Huang Chunlan from Yancheng District was arrested by officer Zhen Jianggong from the Yancheng Police Department on May 20, 2021 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She has been detained in the No.2 Detention Center of Luohe City since then and suffered a lot there. Her case was submitted to the Procuratorate. 

7. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wen Yuyan Sentenced to Six Years in Prison

Ms. We Yuyan, about 70, was tried in court and sentenced to six years in prison in June or July 2021. 

8. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Zhang Shangmei Arrested 

Ms. Zhang Shangmei was arrested at home by officers from the Xixia District Domestic Security Division in early September 2021. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

9. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Mr. Sun Yue and His Wife Harassed

Mr. Sun Yue was harassed at his workplace on the morning of September 23, 2021. Instructed by the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, Wang Shicai, deputy of Chaoyang Township, accompanied some people from the Dehui City Education Bureau to talk to Mr. Sun. Mr. Sun was pressured to sign a guarantee statement and was threatened with his job. He did not cooperate. They also went to harass Mr. Sun’s wife at her workplace but she was not there. 

10. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Peng Jingjun Harassed

Five or six officers from the Shenze County Police Department went to Mr. Peng Jingjun’s home around 7:20 a.m., on September 22, 2021. They jumped over the wall and opened the gate. They did not show their IDs and searched the home for Mr. Peng. 

Mr. Peng Jingjun was put on the CCP’s wanted list by the Shenze Police Department in December 2020. His family has been harassed four times since then. 

11. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Shuying Arrested

Ms. Guo Shuying from Pingdu City was arrested at home and taken to the Dongge Police Station on August 11, 2021. Her home was ransacked. Her personal belongings including a printer, two computers and a set of Falun Gong books were confiscated. Ms. Guo was released the next day on August 12, 2021 and was placed under residential surveillance. 

12. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Four Practitioners Arrested 

Multiple practitioners were arrested on September 22, 2021 including an elderly couple from Changxin, Ms. Xiangfen and practitioner Sun. 

13. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yu Fengying Arrested and Detained

Ms. Yu Fengying lives in Qidaogou Village, Taipingzhuang Township, Longhua County. She was arrested by officers from Longhua County and Luanping County on August 26, 2021. She was released on August 28, 2021. 

Ms. Yu was arrested and taken to the Shuangfengsi Detention Center on September 2 or 3, 2021. Her husband was told that she would be detained for 10 days. 

14. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Xianrong Harassed

Ms. Yu Xianrong was harassed at home by officer Xie from the Shanda Road Police Station and two staff members from the Dongzhi Neighborhood Committee around 10:30 a.m., on September 8, 2021. They asked her questions such as whether she still practiced Falun Gong and whether she had a computer at home to browse the Internet. They warned her not to go out and talk to people about Falun Gong. 

Later they called Ms. Yu’s daughter and told her to watch her mother. She was threatened that she would be implicated if her mother clarified the truth to people. 

15. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Xu Shufen’s Home Ransacked Twice

Ms. Xu Shufen’s home was ransacked on the morning of May 10, 2021. Zhang Lin, head of the security guards in the Longfengjieyuan Community, led some people to Ms. Xu’s home. They accused her of posting truth clarifying stickers and searched her home. They confiscated 65 Falun Gong books, one printer, one computer, one mobile hard disk, three media players, one USB drive, several memory cards, and six bank cards. Her bank cards were returned later. 

When Ms. Liu Shuyuan who lives upstairs went to buy breakfast on the morning of June 10, 2021 she was followed by officers from the Huizhan District Police Department to her home. Ms. Xu opened the door at around 9 a.m. and was found by these people. The police ransacked her home while videotaping around. They confiscated her personal belongings including 55 Falun Gong books, two USB drives, a card reader counting as a USB drive, four smart phones including a broken one, 9 bookmarks, 44 five-yuan paper bills imprinted with messages about the persecution of Falun Gong, and other items. They also tore down the wall and door decorations.

Ms. Xu was taken to the Huizhan District Police Department. She was interrogated but refused to cooperate. Her oldest brother was called to pick her up later. He was forced to sign a guarantee statement and sign on the paper for bail pending trial. 

16. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Su Xueyun’s Water and Electric Supply Shut off

Ms. Su Xueyun lives in Xufu Village, Dongge Sub-district, Pingdu City. The village official Leng Junbo called Ms. Su’s husband on the morning of September 16, 2021 and threatened to cut the water and electric supply if Ms. Su still practiced Falun Gong. 

The next day village officials Leng Junbo and Leng Zhijun went to Ms. Su’s home and asked whether she still practiced Falun Gong.

Ms. Su’s husband received a call from Leng Junbo again on the morning of September 18, 2021 who threatened to cut off the couple’s water and electric supply. Shortly afterwards, their water and electricity were turned off. Ms. Su called Leng Junbo and was told that they should move out the village. When she called Leng Zhijun he told her he was following higher authority’s orders.

Their electricity was turned back on, on the evening of September 18, 2021 but the water supply was not. Ms. Su kept calling and finally the water was turned back on the morning of September 21, 2021.
