(Minghui.org) It’s been confirmed by Minghui.org that three women in Changchun, Jilin Province, were sentenced to prison for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Cui Yuqiu

Ms. Cui Yuqiu, a 68-year-old former librarian who worked at Jilin University, was first arrested on September 9, 2019, with her husband Mr. Du Jingyi, also a Falun Gong practitioner. Although she was soon released, she was arrested again on July 15, 2020.

The Chaoyang District Court informed Ms. Cui’s family on December 10, 2020, that she was scheduled to appear in court the following day. They asked to attend her hearing, but the judge denied their request, saying her case was “very special.”

Ms. Cui was recently sentenced to a year and a half in prison. Her husband was sentenced to seven years in prison around May 2021.

Ms. Dong Yanhui

Ms. Dong Yanhui was arrested at home at around 5 a.m. on July 15, 2020. The police ransacked her place and had her admitted to the Changchun City No.4 Detention Center.

Ms. Dong was sentenced to two years in April 2021. The Changchun Intermediate Court turned down her appeal. She was taken to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison on September 19, 2021.

Ms. Zhang Xiuyun

Ms. Zhang Xiuyun, in her 70s, was arrested on September 14, 2020, after being reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and Falun Gong information.

Because Ms. Zhang’s son, who has divorced, was already serving time for practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Zhang was helping to take care of his two daughters who are in elementary school. Her arrest left the family in the lurch, with no one to take care of the two girls.

After Ms. Zhang was sentenced to eight years, she has appealed the verdict and is now in the Changchun City No.4 Detention Center awaiting a reply.
