(Minghui.org) Ms. Wu Guifen has been repeatedly harassed in the past few months for her faith in Falun Gong, which she credits for curing her lymphoma in 1999.
Ms. Wu, a Tianjin resident, took up Falun Gong only a few months after the Chinese communist regime ordered a nationwide persecution of this ancient spiritual and meditation discipline due to its immense popularity.
Ms. Wu said that by October 1999, she had received several operations and chemotherapy for her cancer treatment. Two thirds of her tongue was removed and she lost all of her hair. Due to the immense pain, she couldn’t sleep or eat. She relied on pain killers to maintain her life. The doctor estimated that she only had two years left.
After she checked out from the hospital and returned home, a relative introduced Falun Gong to her. With no other hope, she decided to give Falun Gong a try. After that, her health gradually recovered. She gained weight and part of her tongue grew back. When she went back to the hospital for a check up, the doctor was surprised to find that her cancer cells had disappeared.
Because of Ms. Wu’s practicing Falun Gong, she was put on the government’s blacklist and targeted in the “Zero-out” campaign this year, which was ordered by the Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC) to force every Falun Gong practitioner on the government’s blacklist to give up their faith.
In the past 22 years of persecution, the PLAC, an extra-judiciary agency overseeing public security and judiciary branches, has played a central role in orchestrating persecution policy.
On December 31, 2020, six police officers went to Ms. Wu’s home and ordered her to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong. After she refused to comply, the police threatened to lock her up. Her husband, who is legally blind, is under tremendous pressure due to the harassment.
