(Minghui.org) A 68-year-old retired police supervisor in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province never returned home after she was summoned to the court to pick up her verdict. Ms. Cheng Lan's family suspected that she has been imprisoned to serve time for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Cheng was arrested on August 29, 2019, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. She was indicted by the Xuanwu District Procuratorate on May 25, 2020, and tried by the Xuanwu District Court on August 12, 2020.
Because of Ms. Cheng’s filing complaints in June 2020 against the prosecutor for wrongfully indicting her, her previous workplace, the Nanjing City Police Department, suspended her pension and has withheld most of her housing subsidy since September. She wrote letters to the leadership at the agency to seek justice but has not received a response.
On December 16, 2020, Ms. Cheng was informed by the court to go and pick up her verdict. She went there on the afternoon of December 17 and never returned home.
