(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 8provinces, where at least 47 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Hu Jixiu’s Case Passed to Court
Ms. Hu Jixiu of Guangzhou City was arrested by officers from the Haizhu District Police Department on February 2, 2020, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was taken to the Haizhu Detention Center. Her case was submitted to the Haizhu Procuratorate on April 24, and passed to the Haizhu Court in July or August.
Ms. Hu was previously arrested by officers from the Changgang Police Station on June 10, 2009, and later sentenced to four years in prison suspended for four years.
2. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Peizhen Taken to Detention Center
Ms. Wang Peizhen of Qinhuangdao City was arrested and taken to the Gouquzhai Police Station by Zhujiangdao police officers. She was transferred to the Qinhuangdao Detention Center, but they refused to admit her. She was taken to the Qinhuangdao First Detention Center on August 15, 2020, and has been held there since.
3. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ten Practitioners Held in Detention Center
Ten practitioners from Guangzhou City are being held in the Haizhu District Detention Center. They are Ms. Hu Jixiu, Mr. Zeng Jiageng, Ms. Wang Xuezhen, Mr. Ma Minqing, Mr. Yang Zhigang, Ms. Zhang Hui, Mr. Li Yuandong, Ms. Yang Xiuhua, Ms. Yu Qingqing, and Ms. Li Yuwei.
4. [Xinye County, Henan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Tao Gaiyun, Ms. Qi Xiaoqin, and Zhang Linge (gender unknown) were arrested separately by agents from the Xinye County 610 Office and officers from the Political Security Brigade around July 20, 2020.
5. [Jinchang City, Gansu Province] Ms. Wei Fengling Arrested, Several Practitioners Harassed and Detained
Mr. Wang Yukang, 82, was harassed at home by police officers on July 21, 2020. His home was ransacked, and a printer was confiscated. His wife, Ms. Wei Fengling, 77, was arrested and interrogated in the police station until 2 a.m. The police secretly installed surveillance devices in their home and went to their home to harass them repeatedly.
Many practitioners were harassed by officers from the Longshou Police Department and the Jinchuan Police Department in July and August. They are Mr. He Tianqin, Ms. He Shuhui, Mr. He Shichang, Ms. Wang Shushen, Mr. Wang Shukun, Ms. Ma Yongyan, Ms. Wei Anyue, Ms. Chen Guifang, Ms. Wei Fengling, and Mr. Wang Yukang.
Ms. Wang Shushen, Mr. Wang Shukun, and Ms. Ma Yongyan are being held by the police.
6. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Chen Zhenjun and His Family Harassed
Mr. Chen Zhenjun was harassed at home by Nankouqian Government officials and village officials on August 11 or 12, 2020. They brought a guarantee statement and demanded that Mr. Chen sign it. He refused.
They threatened that they would not repair the road around his house if he did not obey. They then went to pressure Mr. Chen’s daughter. She answered them by saying, “I’d rather drink poison and kill myself.” Three police officers later went to her home again to put further pressure on her.
7. [Zhumadian City, Henan Province] Ms. Yan Weibin Formally Arrested
Ms. Yan Weibin, in her 50s, of Zhumadian City, was reported to the police on July 16, 2020, for distributing Falun Gong fliers. Officers from the Laojie Police Station went to her home that afternoon, ransacked the place, and took her to the police station. She was formally placed under arrest on July 31.
Ms. Yan is being held in the Zhumadian Detention Center.
8. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Geng Wanzhen Harassed
Ms. Geng Wanzhen was harassed at home by officers from the Taonan County Police Department on the afternoon of August 5, 2020. The officers searched her home, videotaped her, and took pictures of her. Before leaving, they called in Ms. Geng's neighbors and ordered them to keep an eye on her.
9. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Province] Ms. Song Xiuhua Taken to Detention Center
Ms. Song Xiuhua, 72, of Yinchuan City was arrested in September or October, 2019. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Yinchuan Detention Center. Her current situation is unknown.
10. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners and Their Families Harassed
Ms. Xiong Huiyi's family was harassed at home by officers Zheng Bing, Qiang Jian, and others from the Guangming Police Station on the morning of August 14, 2020. Ms. Xiong was away at the time. Zheng and Qiang went to her home again around midday and entered through the back door. Zheng took pictures of the place on his cellphone.
The officers went to Ms. Zhang Shenqun’s home on the morning of August 14, harassed her, took pictures of her, and told her to give them the phone number of practitioner Ms. Li Daorong.
Six agents from Zhihe Town went to Ms. Chen Rong’s home on the morning of August 14, but she wasn't there. They threatened her parents and ordered them to unlock Ms. Chen’s room for them. The parents said they didn't have the key. The agents then left.
11. [Nongan County, Jilin Province] Mr. Jiang Quande and His Wife Ms. Sun Xiuying Arrested
Mr. Jiang Quande and his wife Ms. Sun Xiuying were arrested on July 15, 2020. Mr. Qiang was was very ill, but they still took him to Changchun City. His family later took him to the Changchun Tumor Hospital. He is now at home, but is very weak. The Nongan police are monitoring him and his phone.
Ms. Sun is being held in the Changchun Fourth Detention Center under criminal detention.
12. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Li Guannan and Ms. Wang Guixiang Harassed
Officers from the Wuling Town Police Station phoned the families of Mr. Li Guannan and Ms. Wang Guixiang on August 2, 2020, and demanded that the practitioners report to a brainwashing center in Hunyuan County. They threatened that if they did not go, their children and grandchildren would be stripped of their chances of receiving a college education or getting a job.
13. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Qingtao and Mr. Su Junsheng Held in Detention Center
Mr. Zhang Qingtao and his brother-in-law Mr. Sun Junsheng, who does not practice Falun Gong, were arrested on July 11, 2020. They are being held in the Pulandian Detention Center.
14. [Shanghai] Mr. Fu Jian Tried in Court
Mr. Fu Jian of Huaian City has been working in Shanghai. The Shanghai police chased him to Huaian and arrested him in August 2019. He was taken to the Baoshan Detention Center. His dorm room in the company where he worked was searched. Mr. Fu was tried in late July 2020.
15. [Tianjin] Ms. Cai Xiuqun Arrested and Released
Ms. Cai Xiuqun was harassed at home by plainclothes officers from the Xiawafang Police Station on the morning of August 7, 2020. They picked her lock, broke into her home, and ransacked the place. They confiscated a picture of Falun Gong's founder, Falun Gong books, DVDs, MP3 and MP4 players, U-discs, and other personal belongings.
Ms. Cai was taken to the police station for interrogation, and was released at midnight.
16. [Tieling City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Lijuan and Her Husband Harassed
Ms. Sun Lijuan was harassed at home by Zhang Yan, Cao Kuo, and two others from the Yangmu Town Political and Legal Affairs Committee on the morning of August 12, 2020. They demanded that she sign three statements and threatened to ruin her children’s future if she refused. Ms. Sun did not give in, and they left.
The people then called Ms. Sun's husband, who was working out of town, and demanded he persuade his wife to sign. Her husband refused.
17. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Bianmei and Ms. An Ruifang Harassed
Ms. Wang Bianmei was harassed at home by Xiwanbao Village Party secretary An Zhanwen and six others around April 20, 2020. They confiscated a picture of Falun Gong's founder, keepsakes, and other personal belongings. A woman grabbed hold of Ms. Wang's hand and forcibly got two fingerprints from her.
Ms. An Ruifang was harassed at home by An Zhanwen and around 10 others in mid-June. They confiscated a picture of Falun Gong's founder.
18. [Beijing] Mr. Wu Jinshun Detained
Under orders from the local 610 Office, officers drove in four police cars and arrested Mr. Wu Jinshun of Beijing on August 13, 2020. He has been detained since then.
19. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Fengjuan and Ms. Bai Lijun Imprisoned
Ms. Wang Fengjun and Ms. Bai Lijun of Yushu City were arrested by officers from the Zhengyang Police Station on February 11, 2019. They were sentenced by the Dehui City Court on March 27, 2020. Ms. Bai was given an 18-month term and fined 5,000 yuan. Ms. Wang’s sentence was never revealed to her family.
Ms. Bai was released from the Dehui Detention Center on August 10, 2020, after serving her term. Ms. Wang’s family later learned she had been sentenced to a two-year prison term and fined 5,000 yuan. Ms. Wang was taken to the Changchun City Women’s Prison on August 7, 2020.
