(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 35 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Wuhu City, Anhui Province] Ms. Qi Cuixia Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
Ms. Qi Cuixia, 78, was sentenced to a three-year prison term and fined 10,000 yuan by the Yijiang District Court on August 12, 2020.
2. [Chongqing] Mr. Wu Zhiqun Sentenced to Prison
Mr. Wu Zhiqun from Hechuan City was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong informational U discs, and was arrested by the Domestic Security officers in July 2019. He was given a three-and-a-half-year prison term in May 2020.
3. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Elderly Ms. Gu Arrested
Ms. Gu, in her 70s, was arrested at her rented home by officers from the Shuangqiaozi Police Station on July 20, 2020. Her home was ransacked and a computer, printer, and other belongings were confiscated. She was released that night.
4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Dong Held in Detention Center
Ms. Dong, wife of now-deceased Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Changkun, was arrested at around 5:00 a.m. on July 15, 2020. She is being held in the Changchun City Detention Center.
5. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Five Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Huang Shuqiong, Ms. Huang Weixiu, Ms. You Buxiu, Ms. Cai Tongfeng, and Ms. Li Jinfeng were arrested at the Junle Vegetable Market by officers from the Junle Police Station when they were talking to people about Falun Gong on August 7, 2020.
The officers ransacked their homes and confiscated audio players, weekly journals, weekly newspapers, Falun Dafa books, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.
Ms. Huang Shuqiong was released at 8:00 p.m. that night. The other four practitioners were taken to the Pengzhou City Police Department for physical examinations. Ms. Huang Weixiu was later released.
Ms. Cai, Ms. You, and Ms. Li were taken to a detention center the following day for five days of detention. Ms. Cai and Ms. You were released due to high blood pressure. Ms. Li is being held in the Xindu Detention Center.
6. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Chen Guixia Harassed
Two Bairin Left Banner police officers and three residential community members broke into Ms. Chen Guixia’s home on August 11, 2020. They demanded to know if Ms. Chen still practiced Falun Gong. They also told her not to contact other Falun Gong practitioners and not to go out and post Falun Gong leaflets. They wanted to know if her family members practiced Falun Gong, and demanded that she sign statements renouncing the spiritual practice. Ms. Chen refused to cooperate with them.
7. [Beijing] Ms. Fu Rong Taken to Brainwashing Center
Ms. Fu Rong from Haidian District was reported to the police when she was talking to people about Falun Gong in a park on June 14, 2020. She was subsequently arrested by officers from the Anwai Police Station, Dongcheng District. Her home was ransacked on June 15, and a large number of Falun Dafa books were confiscated.
She was taken to the Dongcheng District Detention Center, and was released on bail on July 21, after being held there for 36 days.
After returning home, the police station, neighborhood committee, and residential community posted two security guards downstairs at her apartment building to watch her around the clock.
She was arrested on July 23 by officers from the Taipingzhuang Police Station and taken to the Haidian District Political and Legal Affairs Committee’s brainwashing center for forced “transformation.”
After 20 days of forced brainwashing, the “transformation” failed, and she returned home on August 11.
8. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Guihua Arrested
Ms. Wang Guihua from Wangjia Village was reported to Liu Changhui, Shangliujia Village Party secretary, for talking to people about Falun Gong in the village on the morning of August 5, 2020. Liu intercepted Ms. Wang and reported her to the 610 Office.
Ms. Wang was arrested and taken to the Jinling Police Station by officers from the Zhaoyuan City Domestic Security Division. Her home was ransacked and two Falun Dafa books were confiscated. She was released at 8:00 p.m. that evening after her family paid 2,000 yuan.
Xu Jianzheng, former head of the Zhaoyuan Brainwashing Center, along with others, forced Ms. Jia Guanglin’s daughter to lead them to Ms. Jia’s parents’ home on the morning of August 4, 2020. Ms. Jia’s daughter was threatened that if she did not lead them to find her mother, she would be prohibited from going to school. They found Ms. Jia at her parents’ home, and tried to make her give up practicing Falun Gong.
Xu Jianzheng, Wang Ping, from the city government, and two other people broke into Ms. Yu Haixia’s home on the afternoon of August 5, 2020. They attempted to make her give up practicing Falun Gong.
9. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhou Xiaodan Detained
Ms. Zhou Xiaodan was arrested at home in early July 2020. Her home was ransacked. She was detained for 15 days.
10. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Pingjun Arrested
Mr. Wang Pingjun from Li County was arrested by Li County Domestic Security officers when he was talking to people about Falun Gong at the Xihe Village farmers market on August 4, 2020. He was released that afternoon.
11. [Keshan County, Heilongjiang Province] Several Practitioners Harassed
Mr. Feng Chuansi, Ms. Wang Yanchun, Ms. Gao Shuqing, and other practitioners in Keshan Farm have been repeatedly harassed in various ways for the past month or so. Their families have also been pressured and harassed.
Wang Xiaoli, a local Domestic Security officer, phoned practitioners' family members numerous times to threaten and harass them. They used practitioners’ children’s school and futures as leverage to coerce practitioners into writing the “four statements” renouncing Falun Gong.
12. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wen Yufei Taken into Custody
Ms. Wen Yufei from Ang’angxi District was arrested on May 1, 2020. She was released on bail the following day.
Ms. Wen was taken to the Qiqihar City Procuratorate on August 4, by officers from the Ang’angxi Police Station, on the grounds that she needed to explain some things. She was taken back to Ang’angxi District for a nucleic acid test, and then transferred directly to the Fuyu County Detention Center.
13. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Jingxiu Taken to Detention Center
Ms. Liu Jingxiu was taken to a detention center even after she developed symptoms of serious illness. The detention center refused to accept her, and she was forcibly taken instead to the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center on the evening of August 11, 2020.
14. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Gao Sulian and Husband Arrested
Ms. Gao Sulian, 54, from the Hongdao Sub-district was arrested by officers from the Hongdao Police Station when she was talking to people about Falun Gong on July 30, 2020. Her home was ransacked at 7:00 p.m. and she was released.
Ms. Gao was again arrested by the officers on August 11, who claimed that they needed to update their interrogation transcript. Her husband was later also arrested. The couple’s family did not let up demanding their release, and clarifying the facts to the police. The couple was released at around 10:00 p.m. that night.
15. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Sun Detained
Ms. Sun, 69, a pasta shop owner, in Linxi County, was arrested. She is being held in a detention center for ten days.
16. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zuo Desheng and Ms. Wang Huilin Arrested
The Tangshan City police jumped over the wall and broke into the homes of Mr. Zuo Desheng and Ms. Wang Huilin, arrested them, and ransacked their homes at around 6:00 a.m. on August 12, 2020. Ms. Wang’s non-practitioner daughter was also arrested, but was released after she signed paperwork.
Police officers jumped over the wall and broke into Mr. Dong Jianquan’s home and arrested him on the morning of August 12, 2020. They ransacked the place, and forced his daughter-in-law to sign paperwork. She refused.
Mr. Wang Baozhu’s home in Wanglanzhuang Town was ransacked at around 5:00 a.m. on August 12, 2020.
Ms. Liu Jinying from Chahe Town, Fengnan District, was arrested at her home by officers from the Chahe Police Station. They jumped over the wall and broke into her home at around 5:00 a.m. on August 12, 2020. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a large quantity of personal belongings. Ms. Liu’s current whereabouts are unknown.
17. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Several Practitioners Harassed
Officers from the Songlindian Police Station and union personnel from the Lingyun Group in Zhuozhou, upon orders from the Zhuozhou 610 Office and the Police Department, repeatedly went to the homes of practitioners employed by Lingyun Group, and harassed them and their family members.
Ms. Wang Xiuzhi, Ms. Jiang Fengying, Ms. Liu Gaiping, Mr. Chen Jianwei, and Ms. Qi Cairu were told to write guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong. The officers and union personnel threatened practitioners that if they refused to write the statements, their children would not be able to go to college or join the People’s Liberation Army.
When they did not find Mr. Chen and Ms. Wang, they harassed the two practitioners’ family members instead. They are still harassing them.
18. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Elderly Ms. Luo Taken to Detention Center
Ms. Luo, in her 70s, from the Jingyue Residential Community, was reported to the police when she was distributing Falun Gong materials in the Yuandinghuayuan Residential Community on August 1, 2020.
She was arrested by officers from the Caiyu Street Police Station. Her home was ransacked, and her Falun Dafa books and DVDs of lectures given by Falun Gong's founder were confiscated. She was released that evening after being extorted of 700 yuan.
The officers went to her home again and arrested her on the afternoon of August 10. She was taken to the No. 4 Detention Center the next morning.
