(Minghui.org) Since 2018, the majority of Falun Gong related cases in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province have been assigned to the Haizhu District Procuratorate.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

According to information collected by Minghui.org, the police in Guangzhou have submitted at least 28 Falun Gong practitioners’ cases to the Haizhu District Procuratorate in the past two years.

Seven of the practitioners are in their 70s and 80s, including Mr. Li Qiaosen, 82; Ms. Lin Zuoying, 81; Ms. Tan Chuying, 79; Mr. Zeng Jiageng, 78; Ms. Wu Lijuan, 78; Ms. Liang Huichan, 78; and Ms. Wang Xuezhen, 76.

Several of the practitioners developed various symptoms in detention. Ms. Wang suffered severe back pain and sometimes had to crawl on the floor. Mr. Zeng had persistent high blood pressure, a heart condition, and impaired vision and hearing. The Haizhu District Procuratorate repeatedly rejected the practitioners’ lawyers’ requests to release them on bail.

A prosecutor once said to a practitioner’s lawyer, “We can’t follow the law in prosecuting Falun Gong practitioners. If they don’t plead guilty or repent their crimes, no prosecutor would agree to release them on bail.”
