(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 13 provinces, where at least 48 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liang Shuiqing Officially Arrested
Ms. Liang Shuiqing from Jianhua District was arrested by officers from the Wenhualu Police Station on the morning of July 9, 2020. The police told her family that she had been officially placed under arrest and would be held in a detention center. The officers asked her family to pay 500 yuan for her nucleic acid amplification testing related to the coronavirus.
Ms. Liang was arrested by officers from the police station in November 2018, and detained for one month. The officers went to her home and told her to pay 2,000 yuan as bail money between June and July 2019. On July 9, the officers claimed that when they arrested her, her release in 2018 was for bail only, and she was to be taken back into custody.
The Jianhua District Procuratorate told her to sign written transcripts of interrogation on June 23, 2020.
She is being held in a detention center.
2. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Lin Jiangyue Arrested
Ms. Lin Jiangyue was arrested at home by officers from the Nanta Police Department at just after 5:00 a.m. on July 12, 2020.
3. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Yongguo Arrested
Mr. Liu Yongguo from Shihe Town, Jinzhou District, was arrested by officers from the Fengrong Police Station, Pulandian District, on July 11, 2020. His home was ransacked, and his personal belongings confiscated.
4. [Zhuanghe City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Mr. Wang Changqing and Ms. Xu Minghua from Zhuanghe City were arrested on the morning of July 11, 2020. The police covered her head with a black hood, handcuffed her with her arms behind her back, shoved her to the ground, kicked her, and cursed her.
Ms. Zhang Shujie was arrested and released on the same day. She tutored Ms. Xu’s son so they communicated with each other over the phone. The phone calls were monitored by the police.
5. [Wafangdian City, Liaoning Province] Five Practitioners Arrested
Mr. Wei Duo and his wife Ms. Chu, from the Wazhou area of Wafangdian City, were arrested by officers from the Bolan Police Station, Pulandian District, at around 8:00 a.m. on July 11, 2020. Mr. Wei’s two disabled sisters-in-law were left unattended at home.
Ms. He Yongqin from Wafangdian City was arrested by the Pulandian District police. Her home and her family owned factory were ransacked.
Ms. Qu, in her 80s, from the Wazhou area, was arrested by the Pulandian police. Her audio player was confiscated. Her seriously ill husband was left unattended at home.
Ms. Song Shuchan, from the Paotai Sub-district, Jinpu New Area, Wafangdian City, was arrested.
6. [Pulandian City, Liaoning Province] Five Practitioners Arrested
Mr. Du Yongfeng and his wife from Taizi Village, Xingshutun Town, Jinzhou District, Dalian City were arrested by the Pulandian City police on July 11, 2020. Their home was ransacked. Mr. Du’s wife was released.
Ms. Wang Dongyan and her non-practitioner husband from Xingshutun Town were arrested on July 11.
The home of practitioner Xu in Caijia Village, Dengshahe Town was ransacked.
Several officers broke into Mr. Ma Yan’s home in Lushunkou District, Dalian City and arrested him when he was cooking for a patient on the evening of July 10, 2020. His whereabouts are unknown.
7. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhao Jinshu Sentenced to Prison
Several officers, led by Liu Feng from the Beichen Police Department, broke into Ms. Zhao Jinshu’s home and ransacked the place in July 2019. While ransacking the place, they found and confiscated paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them, and also took away her son’s computer and printer.
Ms. Zhao was given a two-year-and-six-month prison term. She was taken to the Tianjin Women’s Prison.
8. [Wuxue City, Hubei Province] Ms. Guo Pingzhen and Seven Other Practitioners Detained
Ms. Guo Pingzhen was arrested and taken to Qichun County by five officers including Xue Shaohua from the Wuxue City Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of July 8, 2020. She has been on a hunger strike.
Eight practitioners have been detained from February 8, 2018 to today, including Ms. Guo, Mr. Liao Yuanhua, Ms. Liu Yanfeng, Ms. Chen Xuezhen, Ms. Gong Yuegui, Mr. Liu Jigang, Ms. Zhu Xiaohong, and Ms. Hu Lanzhen.
9. [Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Ji Fengxia Arrested
Officers from the Nankang Police Department broke into Ms. Ji Fengxia’s home and ransacked the place on the evening of July 7, 2020. Ms. Ji was not at home, so the police coerced her husband into going to the countryside to find her. Ms. Ji’s husband was also taken to the police department. He was released on medical parole.
Ms. Ji was arrested that evening, and is being held in the Xiangyang Detention Center.
10. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Li Lan Missing
Ms. Li Lan, in her 60s, from Hubei Province, has been missing since June 2020. She was probably arrested.
Ms. Li had been persecuted several times in her hometown. She came to Shenzhen to live with her son.
11. [Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Shi Mengqiao Facing Trial
Ms. Shi Mengqiao from Tangxian Town, Yongkang City, was arrested in February 2020, for distributing Falun Gong materials. She has been indicted by the Wucheng District Procuratorate. She was to be tried at the No. 2 Courtroom in Wucheng District Court on the afternoon of July 21, 2020.
12. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Shuyan and Ms. Zhang Xiufang Harassed
Ms. Li Shuyan from the Funing Residential Community, Shenbei New Area, was harassed and asked to write a guarantee statement promising to stop practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhang Xiufang from the Xinjian Residential Community, Shenbei New Area, was harassed. Her husband received phone calls five times. He was told over the phone to write a guarantee statement promising to stop practicing Falun Gong.
13. [Pulandian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu’s Home Ransacked
The home of Ms. Liu in Zhangjiagou Village was ransacked on the morning of July 11, 2020. Her computer and printer were confiscated. Her non-practitioner husband was arrested, then released that afternoon.
14. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Four Practitioners Facing Trial
Ms. Wang Juxiang, Ms. Gao Xiaowei, Ms. Chen Defang, and Ms. Li Minfang will be tried by the Jintai District Court on the morning of July 15, 2020.
15. [Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province] Four Practitioners Officially Arrested
Ms. Yin Lanhua, Mr. Yue Xingnan, Ms. Ji Fengxia, and Mr. He Zhongliang were recorded by a video surveillance camera when they were distributing Falun Gong materials. They were officially placed under arrest on July 8, 2020, and held in the Liaoyuan City Detention Center.
16. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Hou Ruilian Arrested
Ms. Hou Ruilian from Xingyang City was arrested by officers from the Jingchenglu Police Station at noon on July 7, 2020.
17. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Several Practitioners Harassed
Officers from the West Henan Border Post Police Station called Ms. Wang Xiuxia’s non-practitioner husband Mr. Yang Hehua to the police station on June 2, 2020. The couple live in East Henan Village.
They forced Mr. Yang to sign a guarantee statement on his wife's behalf, promising that she would stop practicing Falun Gong.
Two Beidaihe New Area police went to the homes of Ms. Zhao Yingfen, Ms. Lin Cuiying, Ms. Zu Yurong, and Ms. Li Cuifen in Taihezhai Village and harassed them on the morning of July 4, 2020. They started videotaping as soon as they entered the practitioners’ homes and demanded to know if they still practiced Falun Gong.
Five officers returned and broke into Ms. Zhao Yingfen’s home the following afternoon. They ransacked the place and videotaped the process.
18. [Shanghai] Ms. Wang Zhenghe and Ms. Qiao Maorong Facing Trial
Ms. Wang Zhenghe and Ms. Qiao Maorong from Jiading District will be tried on the afternoon of July 27, 2020.
19. [Beijing] Ms. Yue Guihua Taken to Detention Center
Ms. Yue Guihua from Pinggu District was arrested and taken to the Pinggu Detention Center on June 28, 2020.
20. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Mr. Jia Ruidong Taken to Hospital
Mr. Jia Ruidong was held in the Zhonggou Detention Center, where he was abused severely. He was taken to the Hedong Hospital.
