Three Jiangxi Residents Sentenced for Practicing Falun Gong
(Minghui.org) Three Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province residents were sentenced to prison for practicing Falun Gong after more than one year of detention.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Liu Qiusheng, Mr. Yu Songsi and Ms. Fang Pinglan were arrested on July 2, 2019. They were sentenced by the Jiujiang City Court on July 28, 2020. It’s only known that Mr. Liu was sentenced to five years. The terms of the other two practitioners remain to be investigated.
Mr. Liu used to work at a government agency, but was fired for upholding his faith. He later found a job as a security guard in a residential area. A few years ago, he received a lump-sum compensation from the government for demolishing his home for urban development projects. He exchanged part of the money to 50,000 US dollars, which he saved as a Certificate of Deposit for his son’s college tuition. The police confiscated the CD during the home-raid and then charged him with “colluding with foreign forces.”
