(Minghui.org) A Wuhan City, Hubei Province resident who has been detained for over ten months is facing trial for her faith in Falun Gong, an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Zhang Guizhen, 58, was arrested at home on October 23, 2019. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books and related materials, some cash, and her computer. She has been detained at Wuhan City No.1 Detention Center since.

Because Ms. Zhang refused to admit guilt for upholding her faith, she was hung up by her wrists for days and was forced to relieve herself in her pants. Guards also beat and force-fed her. Her little finger was broken as a result.

After the coronavirus lockdown in Wuhan was lifted, Ms. Zhang’s mother, who is in her 80s, went to the local police station in May to demand her release. The police refused to release her, and the desperate mother collapsed on the ground and burst into tears.

Ms. Zhang was recently indicted, and her case has been submitted to Hongshan District Court.

In the past 21 years, Ms. Zhang has been detained and harassed several times for her faith.

She was stopped on her way to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong on January 21, 2001. After 15 days of detention, she was taken to a brainwashing center and held there for seven months, until August 24.

She was held at the brainwashing center two more times for a total of 111 days between December 19, 2003, and January 21, 2004, and between September 3, 2003, and November 20, 2004, respectively. She was twice hung up by her wrists with her feet barely touching the ground.
