Eliminating the Attachment of Resentment

(Minghui.org) Master’s book Hong Yin V was published in May this year. The following poem left a deep impression on me:

“Some ponder what true faith in the divine may beIt is not about staunchly defending one’s religionThe only way to Heaven is to forsake attachmentsAnd become gentle as lambs like divine ones have saidHoly Wars are meant to be affairs of the divine aloneTo fight one’s fellow man over faith is to harm and killMan’s evil side grows stronger as his kindness ebbsGod bars from his Kingdom any who revel in killingTrue faith in the divine is shown whenWe forsake all worldly attachments and wicked thoughts,for Heaven welcomes only the good and kind”(“What Faith Is,” Hong Yin V )

I was not being kind to people as Master required. When clarifying the truth of Falun Dafa to the police I held resentment against them in my heart.

A local practitioner Mei (alias) was arrested on December 4, 2018. I went to the police station to inquire about her the next morning and was already feeling angry on the way there.

I walked up to the main desk and demanded to know if Mei had been brought here the previous night, how she was treated, and whether she was still being held there.

When police refused to tell me anything, my resentment towards them grew. My voice became louder, and my words came out like fire with no compassionate thoughts to awaken their conscience. Nothing good came out of my words, and I went home empty-handed. 

This feeling of resentment and anger against the police had been with me for over a decade.

I knew about it and had been working on removing these attachments. I knew that if I didn't eliminate them, I would be giving them energy. But that is what exactly what I had done. 

This resentment is not from me - my true self. It is the old forces trying to prevent me from having enough righteous thoughts to eliminate them. It wasn’t until I read Master’s poem “What Faith Is” that I realized this.

Master said:

“The self-cultivation that Dafa disciples do is not merely for their own spiritual perfection, but also to help me save all lives. You have a mission to fulfill, and that is why you had the opportunity to become disciples of Dafa.” (“Greetings to the Dafa Disciples Attending the Fa Conference of Europe”)

I will fulfill my mission, strive to correct my behavior, and awaken people's conscience.
