New York: Elected Officials Issue Proclamations, Citations and Support Letters to Mark the 28th Anniversary of Falun Dafa’s Public Introduction
(Minghui.org) May 13 is the 28th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s public introduction and the 21st World Falun Dafa Day. Every year officials and dignitaries around the world issue congratulatory proclamations. As of May 8, 2020, thirteen elected officials in New York have issued proclamations, citations and letters to mark the occasion. Some proclaimed Falun Dafa Month; others commended Falun Dafa for its beneficial contributions to the world.

Following are the proclamations, citations and letters:
“Introduced to Changchun, China by Mr. Li Hongzhi in May 1992,” stated New York Senator Andrew J. Lanzain in his proclamation, “Falun Dafa is an ancient Qi Gong discipline of mind and body cultivation; the purpose of Falun Dafa is to improve mental wellness through a series of gentle exercises and meditation, guided by the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance.”
“Falun Dafa was introduced to the New York Metropolitan area in 1996 and, today, it is practiced by millions of people in more than seventy countries, built upon principles that bridge cultures, nationalities, and ages, Falun Dafa encourages those who practice it to be good, kind, and thoughtful of others at all times.”
“Throughout the years, Falun Dafa practitioners in the New York Metropolitan area and on Long Island have participated in and sponsored thousands of events for the purpose of sharing the beauty and benefits of the Falun Dafa practice and raising awareness of the persecution that the practice currently faces in China, calling for it to stop.”
“As we strive to improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers during the ongoing Novel Coronavirus pandemic,” stated New York State Assembly Member Andrew D. Hevesi in his letter, “We should always remember that our diversity is our greatest strength and Falun Dafa practitioners have been great contributors to our cultural diversity.
“Through Falun Dafa’s peaceful teachings that emphasize an advanced system of exercise and meditation providing overall physical, mental and spiritual health; it has been successful at helping many individuals improve their health, elevate their mind, uplift their spirit, effectively reduce stress and deepen their understanding of life, humanity and the universe.”
“I am pleased to greet all of you as you celebrate the 21st World Falun Dafa Day and the 28th anniversary of the introduction of Falun Dafa,” stated New York City Council Member Margaret S. Chin in her letter. “Your festivities are an important part of our efforts to uphold and share Chinese culture and customs with the Chinatown community, and beyond.”
