Additional Persecution News from China – May 1, 2020 (13 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in seven provinces, where at least 29 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Wu Jianming’s Appeal Turned Down

Mr. Wu Jianming from the Yuexiu District was charged with using computer servers to spread information about Falun Gong. He was sentenced to a four-year prison term and fined 10,000 yuan by the Liwan District Court on December 26, 2019.

Mr. Wu appealed to the Guangzhou City Intermediate Court, which upheld the original verdict on April 28, 2020.

2. [Muling City, Heilongjiang Province] Six Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Shi Liheng, Mr. Sun Shiwei, Mr. Gao Pengguang, Ms. Gao Yongli, Ms. Qu Bo, and Ms. Cao Shufang were arrested by officers from the Muling City Domestic Security Division, the No. 1 Police Station, and the No. 2 Police Station on April 24, 2020. 

The officers went to Ms. Huang Yumin's home that evening. She was not there, so they ransacked the place.

The police confiscated printers, computers, and other personal belongings from the homes of Mr. Shi, Mr. Gao, Ms. Gao, and Ms. Huang.

Ms. Qu and Ms. Cao were taken to the Bamiantong No.1 Police Station on the evening of April 24 and released in the early hours of April 25. Mr. Shi was taken home by his family later that day. Mr. Gao, Ms. Gao, and Mr. Sun are still being held in custody.

3. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Zhang Weiqing, Ms. Ding Xiaolan, and Ms. She Qinghua from the Xian’an District were arrested on the morning of April 20, 2020, after being reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong in Tingsi Town.

Ms. Ding and Ms. She were taken to the Tongshan County Detention Center. Mr. Zhang was taken to the Chibi City Detention Center.

4. [Beijing] Five Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Liu Shuqin and her granddaughter Ms. Hu Yiming (14 years old) from the Shunyi District and Ms. Shan Shujiang from Dahanzhuang Village were arrested on April 2, 2020, for distributing Falun Gong materials. Their homes were ransacked, and Falun Dafa books, printed materials, and computers were confiscated. They were taken to the Shengli Police Station, where they were interrogated and had their voices recorded. The police also took their photos, fingerprints, and blood samples. They were released 24 hours later.

Officers from the Guangming Police Station broke into Mr. Yang Yuliang’s home in Dashigezhaung Village, Dasungezhuang Town, and arrested Mr. Yang and his daughter Ms. Yang Dandan on April 27, 2020. They ransacked the place and confiscated Falun Dafa books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. Mr. Yang and his daughter were taken to the Mulin Town Police Station to be interrogated. They were later transferred to the Shunyi Detention Center and held there for 3 days.

5. [Shanghai] Ms. Yu Xinghong Arrested

Ms. Yu Xinghong, 74, from Macheng City, Hubei Province, rented an apartment in the Songjiang District of Shanghai so that she could help her son take care of his children. Her son is working odd jobs in Shanghai.

Four officers from the Songjiang Police Station broke into her home and ransacked it on the morning of April 3, 2020. They confiscated Falun Dafa books, DVDs of lectures given by Falun Gong's founder, and DVDs with information about Falun Gong.

Ms. Yu was taken to the police station for interrogation. The officers took her fingerprints against her will and made her sign paperwork before releasing her.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yu Xiuyan Arrested

Officers from the Sanshilipu Town Police Station in the Jinpu New Area broke into Ms. Yu Xiuyan’s home in Sandaowan Village, Sanshilipu, and arrested her on April 26, 2020. She was taken to the police station for interrogation and released the following day.

Officers from the Jinzhou District Police Department and the Sanshilipu Police went to Ms. Yu’s home again on the morning of April 28. They confiscated a computer, printer, Falun Dafa books, and printer paper.

7. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Mr. Peng Shuming Arrested

Several agents from the Gaotang County 610 Office and the Yuqiuhu Police Station broke into Mr. Peng Shuming’s clinic on the morning of April 21, 2020. They pushed him down and confiscated his cell phone, Falun Dafa books, and yuan bills with Falun Gong information printed on them.

Mr. Peng was taken to the police station but was released later that afternoon.

8. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Hao Xiuzhen’s Home Ransacked, Mr. Han Zijun and His Son Mr. Han Jiwei Detained

Officers from the Guye District Police Department and the Nanfangezhuang Town Police Station broke into Ms. Hao Xiuzhen’s home on March 25, 2020, and ransacked it. They confiscated Falun Dafa books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and other personal belongings. They also tore the Falun Gong New Year picture off the wall.

Mr. Han Zijun and his son Mr. Han Jiwei from Puzhuangzi Village, Chahe Town in the Fengnan District were transferred from the Fengrun District Detention Center to the Fengnan Detention Center on April 28.

9. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Chen Yawen and Ms. Wang Lijuan Arrested

Ms. Chen Yawen and Ms. Wang Lijuan from Xingshan Town in the Shuangcheng District were reported to the police on the morning of April 29, 2020, for distributing Falun Gong materials. They were arrested and taken to the Xingshan Town Police Station. Officers later ransacked both practitioners’ homes and confiscated their Falun Dafa books, printed materials, and cell phones.

Ms. Chen and Ms. Wang were released later that evening.

10. [Yu County, Hebei Province] Mr. Hao Haifeng and Mr. Hai Rong Arrested

Mr. Hao Haifeng and Mr. Hai Rong from the Yangzhuang area were arrested by the Yu County police on the evening of April 29, 2020.

11. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Liang Zhanhong Detained

Ms. Liang Zhanhong, 73, from the Yitian Garden Residential Community in the Futian District was arrested in early April 2020. She is being held in the Futian Detention Center.

12. [Huainan City, Anhui Province] Mr. Pan Feng Tortured in Prison

Mr. Pan Feng was tortured in prison from July to August 2019 by ward supervisor Yang Baosheng and other guards. Mr. Pan was shocked with electric batons, sprayed with hot chili water, beaten, made to stand for long periods of time, and locked in solitary confinement. His whole body was bruised and turned purple. He remains under strict supervision.

13. [Yuncheng City, Shangxi Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Yang Baixue and two other practitioners from Liushu'ao Village in Pinglu County were arrested by officers from the Pinglu Police Department and the local police station on April 14, 2020, when they were reading the Falun Gong teachings together.
