Additional Persecution News from China – April 2, 2020 (18 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in ten provinces, where at least 27 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Liu Peiliang, Mr. Zhong Mingshuang, and Ms. Feng Cuixia were reported to the police on the evening of March 30, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong in Shihetou Village. They were arrested by officers from the Zhucheng City Domestic Security Division and Renminlu Police Station. Their homes were ransacked.

2. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Fengqing and Mr. Fu Xiaodong Arrested

Ms. Wang Fengqing, 72, from Zhuanshan Street, Pingshan District, was arrested by officers from the Gongren Police Station on April 1, 2020, at the Zhuanshan Morning Market. Officers went to her home, and arrested her son-in-law Mr. Fu Xiaodong.

3. [Dashiqiao City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Quanchun and His Wife Ms. Shi Wenxiu Arrested

Mr. Liu Quanchun and his wife Ms. Shi Wenxiu were arrested at their rented home by officers from the Dashiqiao City Police Department on March 24, 2020. Their whereabouts are unknown.

4. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Yumei Arrested

Ms. Sun Yumei from Linyuan Town was arrested at the entrance of her apartment building by Liu Jingbo and other officers from the No. 4 Central Police Station, Datong District, on the morning of April 2, 2020. The officers confiscated Falun Gong materials.

5. [Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Luo Xiaoxing’s Family of Four Arrested

Mr. Luo Xiaoxing and his two sisters, Ms. Luo Qiaoli and Ms. Luo Qiaoling, were arrested by officers from the Panzhihua City 610 Office and local police station on February 28, 2020, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in the Qingxiangping Sub-district, Xi District. Their home was ransacked.

Mr. Luo’s mother Ms. Li Mingming was arrested the same day, for talking to people about Falun Gong in the Gaofeng Residential Community, Dong District. Her home was ransacked. She was released later that day.

6. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Liu Xiuying Passes Away Due to Persecution

Ms. Liu Xiuying from the Qilihe District in Lanzhou City passed away on February 17, 2019, as a result of persecution. She was 69.

Ms. Liu was imprisoned twice for a total of six years. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 2000, and was arrested. She was taken back to Lanzhou City, and then transferred to the Ping’antai Forced Labor Camp, where she was tortured for three years.

She was held in the Gansu Province Women's Prison between 2004 to 2007, where she was tortured, and on the verge of death several times.

7. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Wang Juan Held in Detention Center

Ms. Wang Juan from Changsha City, Hunan Province, was arrested by Youyang County Domestic Security officers on October 3, 2019, while sightseeing in Chongqing. She was taken to the Qianjiang District Detention Center in Chongqing.

8. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Zhou Huajian Arrested

Mr. Zhou Huajian, 70, was arrested and handcuffed on March 26, 2020. The police ransacked his home, and confiscated a printer, computer, Falun Dafa books, printed materials, and over 9,000 yuan in cash.

9. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Luo Jiangying Arrested

Ms. Luo Jiangying was arrested on March 30, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong at a farmers' market. The police ransacked her home, and confiscated a computer, cash, and passbooks.

10. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Xie Qingfen was arrested at a supermarket on the morning of March 27, 2020. She was taken to the Xinglin Police Station, Luyang District, for interrogation. The officers confiscated a computer, printer, Falun Dafa books, and printed materials.

Ms. Liu Tifei and Ms. Jiang Zhaoying were arrested at home on the morning of March 29. The police ransacked their homes, and confiscated computers, printers, Falun Dafa books, and printed materials.

11. [Wuyishan City, Fujian Province] Ms. Li Junying and Ms. Lin Jinjiao Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Li Junying, in her 50s, and Ms. Lin Jinjiao, 46, were followed and arrested by officers from the Wuyishan Domestic Security Division around April 11, 2019, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked.

They were taken to the Nanping Detention Center. Both practitioners were each sentenced to three-and-a-half-year prison terms on January 17, 2020.

Ms. Lin has since appealed.

12. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wan Guirong’s Prison Sentence Upheld

Ms. Wan Guirong was sentenced to a two-year prison term for practicing Falun Gong. She appealed, but without a hearing, the Dandong City Intermediate Court upheld the original verdict on January 19, 2020.

The prosecution's evidence against Ms. Wan was the Falun Gong informational materials that were confiscated from her home.

13. [Lanxi County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gao Jinshu Released from Prison

Ms. Gao Jinshu was sentenced to one year in prison on May 24, 2019. She was taken to the Harbin Women's Prison, and was released on February 16, 2020.

14. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Falun Gong Practitioners Harassed

Staff members of residential committees across Suihua City harassed local Falun Gong practitioners in late 2019, on directives from the Political and Legal Affairs Committee.

They visited practitioners' homes, took their photos, and tried to get them to sign guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong. They also threatened them not to distribute materials or go to the streets to talk to people about Falun Gong.

15. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Qiusha Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Zhang Qiusha was recently sentenced to a four-year prison term for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. She was arrested on June 26, 2018, and was tried on March 4, 2019.

16. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhu Weijun Imprisoned

Ms. Zhu Weijun was arrested on August 22, 2018, and sentenced to a four-year prison term by the Shahekou District Court on June 28, 2019. She was taken to the Liaoning Women's Prison on January 7, 2020. 

17. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhou Junling Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Zhou Junling, 78, was arrested on April 24, 2019, and held in the Nankai District Detention Center. She was indicted by the Nankai Procuratorate, and sentenced to a three-and-a-half-year prison term in December 2019.

18. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Ailing Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Liu Ailing, from Fuping County, Hebei Province was arrested on May 29, 2019, for handing out informational materials about Falun Gong at a farmers’ market. She was taken to the Baoding Detention Center the next day. The police went to her home, and confiscated Falun Dafa books.

Ms. Liu was sentenced to a three-year prison term on November 29, 2019, nine days after being tried in the Shunping County Court.
