(Minghui.org) When I first became a hospital physician I was conflicted: I wanted to provide the best care for my patients but I also wanted to satisfy the hospital's financial interests.
My employer's priority was how much money the physicians brought in. As a physician, I wanted to provide the best care for my patients at the lowest cost. I lost faith in my profession because dishonest physicians usually received the hospitals' highest appraisals.
I Begin to Practice Falun Dafa
Several members of my family began practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. From the Fa, I understood that Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are the universe's highest and unchanging principles. I found what I was looking for and committed myself to follow the cultivation path Master Li Hongzhi (the founder) arranged for me.
Under the guiding principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I reset my professionalism to the highest standards. I began by strictly telling the truth. I was able to think from my patients' perspective and treated them with a cheerful attitude. Getting the best results at the lowest cost became my priority. I discharged my patients from the hospital as soon as it was safe to do so to save them money. I also refused kickbacks and gifts.
Gradually, my chronic rhinitis and asthma disappeared. My improved health gave me confidence that I was on the correct path.
My body and mind became healthy – this was the happiest period of my life! I enjoyed spending time with other practitioners. We studied the teachings, did the exercises, and let people know about Falun Dafa so more people could benefit from the practice.
Protecting My Belief and Spreading the Truth
Falun Dafa practitioners were arrested and beaten on April 25, 1999, in Tianjin, a city about 80 miles from Beijing. My parents, daughter, and I went to Beijing to protest this unfair treatment of people who believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
We arrived in Beijing on April 26. As we traveled from the train station to the city center, we saw police officers combing the streets and many Falun Dafa practitioners being arrested. We were stopped by police later that day and sent back to our local police station.
Back home, we delivered letters to local government officials. We wanted them to know that Falun Dafa is good and that it was wrong to arrest innocent people.
By July 1999, the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) began arresting those practitioners who coordinated Falun Dafa related activities. The CCP also announced that practicing Falun Dafa was illegal. Practitioners in our area and I went to Beijing, hoping to convince the government to end the persecution.
The CCP began broadcasting propaganda to slander Falun Dafa - it was everywhere. The Party's entire police force was mobilized to hunt down practitioners. Every person was encouraged to report on their activities. Checkpoints were set up at every bus stop, harbor and street corner. Everyone's ID cards and bags were searched.
We were detained in an elementary school. The end of July is hot and humid in Beijing. Several hundred Falun Dafa practitioners from all over the country were detained there. We immediately felt close, like old friends. We shared cultivation experiences and encouraged each other to stay firm in our beliefs.
Eventually everyone was sent back to their local detention center. Various methods, including threats and violence, were used on us in an attempt to make us give up our faith.
I was taken away in the middle of the night, and sometimes while at work, by security guards from my workplace. They put me in a detention center and then in a brainwashing center. My salary and benefits were withheld. I was only given 50 dollars per month to live on.
I and other practitioners went to Beijing to appeal many times. I was detained and eventually terminated from my job.
Instead of going to Beijing we started talking to the people around us, letting them know that Falun Dafa was being wrongfully persecuted, and all the slander was false.
Reading the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party helped us see the true nature of the CCP. Local practitioners worked together to spread the truth behind the persecution. We made and distributed reading materials to everyone we met at family gatherings, meetings, weddings, our workplace, and markets.
Many of my patients and colleagues had a clear understanding of the persecution of Falun Dafa and renounced their connections with any CCP affiliated organizations they previously joined.
I'm blessed with a happy family, a comfortable home and a well-behaved child. I talk about all my blessings whenever I talk to people.
Sometimes I encounter people who refuse to accept the truth. They even curse at me. Whenever this happens I search within myself. Was I being disrespectful? Did I lecture them? I always try my best to correct my mistakes.
Over time, I noticed my public speaking skills improved. Master gives me the wisdom to know what to say when I talk to people. I wish to let more people know about Falun Dafa. I also know Master is always with me, helping me.
There are over one hundred people in my extended family, 40 of them practice Falun Dafa. About 300 of my colleagues know the truth behind the persecution. Among the 120 administration level officials in my hospital, over 70 of them have renounced the CCP organizations they'd joined.
I refused to sign any statements that tarnish Dafa. A group of policemen came to my office to photograph me for their records. I pointed out that what they were doing is illegal and asked to see their IDs. I urged them to protect their own future by not harming good people. The next day I reported the incident to the president of my hospital and the police department.
I practice what I believe with pride and dignity. Whenever I meet someone for the first time, I tell them that I'm a practitioner and that Falun Dafa is good.
People Around Me Are Blessed
Ms. Wang is one of my friends and she often says, “Falun Dafa is good”. When her granddaughter asked her, “Nana, who are you talking to?” She replied, “ I'm talking to god.” When Ms. Wang was found to have a pelvic tumor her surgery was a success and the tumor was benign.
My relative Mr. Lee also works in the medical field. He frequently says, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good”. His talent and good character were recognized and he will soon receive his Ph.D. degree.
Ms. Liu, another relative, couldn't walk for years because of her leg pain. She was able to walk again after reciting, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good”. She's now 89 years old and has no problem walking.
Ms. Zhang is a school teacher. A month after she withdrew from the CCP, she got into an accident. She was riding on her husband's motorcycle when a truck struck them. They had no other injuries other than some scrapes. Afterward, Ms. Zhang told me, “It's true! Renouncing the CCP can keep you safe!”
