CDC Official Warns of Coronavirus Global Pandemic
(Minghui.org) As of March 2, 2020, the novel coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China, has spread to 75 countries and regions.
In the past week, infection cases erupted in South Korea, Iran and Italy. Countries in Africa and South America also reported their first cases.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak a global health emergency and warned countries to prepare for quick spread of the virus.
In the US, Anne Schuchat, the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) Principal Deputy Director, said during a press briefing on February 25 that “Current global circumstances suggest it’s likely this virus will cause a pandemic.”
Dr. Schuchat also warned of “community spread” in the US, and, “It’s not so much a question of if this will happen any more, but rather more a question of when this will happen.”
She called for the American public to start preparing for the epidemic.
