(Minghui.org) Ten Falun Gong practitioners in Fushun City, Liaoning Province were arrested between August and December 2019 for raising awareness about the persecution of their faith. They remain in custody at the Fushun City Detention Center.
Despite requests from their families, the authorities refuse to release them, and are planning to further prosecute the practitioners.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Xiulian and Ms. Zhang Qiuxiang were arrested on August 21, 2019 by officers from the Guchengzi Police Station, for talking to people about Falun Gong.
Ms. Xu Xiuyun was arrested on September 21, 2019 while distributing information about how to break through China’s Internet blockade.
Ms. Zhu Yafen was arrested on September 24, 2019 at a bus station. The police ransacked her home that evening.
Another two practitioners, Ms. Liu Yunying and Ms. Ma Fengju, were arrested on September 25, 2019 while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. The police attempted to collect Ms. Ma’s fingerprints while interrogating her at the police station, but she refused to comply. The officers slapped her in the face dozens of times.
Ms. Zhao Yulan, 80, was first arrested on April 18, 2019 and released on bail due to her blood pressure being high, and a heart condition. She was arrested again on October 26, 2019 and has since been detained.
Ms. Xu Yuzhi and Ms. Liu Shuqin were arrested by officers from Liushan Police Station on November 7, 2019 after being reported for passing out desktop calendars that contained information about Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhao Jie and Ms. Liu Guizhi were arrested while walking on the street on December 5, 2019. Although Ms. Liu was later released on bail, Ms. Zhao remains in detention.
