Additional Persecution News from China – February 27, 2020 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in seven provinces, where at least 32 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief. One of the practitioner's whereabouts is currently unknown.

1. [Beijing] Four Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Shi Shaoping is studying for a Master's degree at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. He was arrested on November 18, 2019, and is being held in the Haidian District Detention Center.

Ms. Chen Lifang and her daughter Ms. Zhang Heyu were arrested on the afternoon of February 22, 2020, and interrogated at the Xiaohongmen Police Station, Chaoyang District. They were transferred to Chaoyang Police Department.

Mr. Hao Xiufeng from the Yanqing District was arrested by officers from Kangzhuang Police Station on February 26, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong.

2. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Cui Xiuqin and Ms. Wang Jingli were arrested on the evening of February 20, 2020, and taken to the Jianguo Police Station. Ms. Wang’s notebook computer, ID card, cell phone, Falun Gong fliers, and more than 800 yuan cash were confiscated.

Ms. Wei Shujie from the Xiangfang District was arrested by officers from the Jianzhujie Police Station on February 25, after being reported to the authorities for distributing Falun Gong fliers. Her home was ransacked. She is being held at the police station.

3. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Mr. Zhu Zhaoshui, Ms. Zhu Lijie, and Ms. Sun Limei were arrested by officers from the Shulan City Domestic Security Division, local police stations, and the Jilin City Domestic Security Division on September 10, 2019. Their homes were ransacked, and their personal belongings confiscated.

The three practitioners are being held in a detention center.

4. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Yingling Detained

Ms. Zhang Yingling, 70, was arrested at her home by Yu Shaoyong and other plainclothes officers from the Gao District Domestic Security Division on February 18, 2020. Her home was ransacked, and Falun Gong books, computers, printers, satellite receivers, and Falun Gong materials were confiscated.

Ms. Zhang is being detained for 15 days, and was fined 1,000 yuan.

5. [Dunhua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Jingping Arrested

Ms. Liu Jingping, 57, works for the Dashitou Forestry Bureau. She was arrested on February 18, 2020, and her home was ransacked.

6. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Yanqiu and Mr. Li Shourong Arrested

Ms. Wang Yanqiu and Mr. Li Shourong from Tiechang Town were arrested by Tiechang government staff and officers from the Tiechang Police Station on the afternoon of February 25, 2020. A villager reported them for distributing Falun Gong fliers.

7. [Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Wang Wenjun Arrested

Ms. Wang Wenjun was arrested at home by officers from the Shaoxing City Domestic Security Division and Baiguanjiedao Police Station on the morning of February 26, 2020.

8. [Nongan County, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Qixue Arrested

Mr. Wang Qixue was arrested by officers from the Hepingdajie Police Station on the morning of February 18, 2020.

9. [Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Liangfang Disabled from Mistreatment in Prison

Ms. Zhang Liangfang was taken to Xinzhou Detention Center in June 2017, where she was beaten and injected with unknown substances. Her limbs became stiff, and she was unable to move. She lost control of her bowels, and had partial memory loss.

Ms. Zhang was transferred to Shanxi Province Women’s Prison, where she developed cerebellar atrophy.

She was released on June 6, 2018, but was bound to a wheelchair, and could not take care of herself.

10. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Yongqin and Ms. Xu Wanxiang Detained

Ms. Sun Yongqin and Ms. Xu Wanxiang from Changyi City were arrested on the evening of February 23, 2020. Their homes were ransacked. They are being held at the Changyi Domestic Security Division.

11. [Jieyang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wang Xirou and Ms. Cai Hui Arrested

Ms. Wang Xirou from Jieyang City was arrested by two village security officers on February 11, 2020, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Paibian Village, Putian Town. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Putian Police Station. Her whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Cai Hui was arrested in Xichang Town by officers from Putian Police Station on February 28. She is being held in the Jieyang Detention Center.

12. [Liangshan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Chunxiang Imprisoned

Ms. Zhang Chunxiang was arrested by officers from Liangshan County Domestic Security Division on March 12, 2019. She was taken to Jining Detention Center.

Ms. Zhang was later sentenced, and is incarcerated in Jinan Women’s Prison.

13. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Chang Xiuhua Arrested

Ms. Chang Xiuhua from Huanan County was arrested by officers from Huanan County Police Department for handing out Falun Gong fliers. She was taken to Jiamusi Detention Center. However, the authorities there refused to accept her due to the coronavirus outbreak. The police instead placed her under house arrest.

14. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Cheng Meiqin and Ms. Li Zhenqian Arrested

Ms. Cheng Meiqin and Ms. Li Zhenqian were arrested by officer Ma Wentao and others from Xiyou Police Station on the afternoon of January 2, 2020, after someone reported them for handing out Falun Gong calendars. Their homes were ransacked. They were later released.

15. [Chongqing] Ms. Han Zonglan Arrested

Ms. Han Zonglan, 58, from the Tongliang District was arrested on February 8, 2020, for distributing Falun Gong fliers. She was kept in the police department even though she had high blood pressure, and was released only after the police extorted 5,000 yuan from her family.

16. [Xichang City, Sichuan Province] Seven Practitioners Facing Trial

On February 20, 2020, it was learned that the cases of Mr. Huang Biao, Mr. Zhao Jun, Ms. Yu Hongying, Ms. Xu Shaoqiong, Ms. Luo Mingchun, Ms. Zhou Xianrong, Ms. Zhang, and Mr. Pan had been submitted to Xichang City Court by the Xichang Procuratorate.

Ms. Zhang is being held in Xiaomiaozhou Detention Center. Ms. Lou and Ms. Xu are being held in Xichang Detention Center.
