Eliminate the Attachment to Time
(Minghui.org) As Falun Dafa practitioners during the Fa-rectification period, many of us have been cultivating for more than 20 years and have been persecuted to varying degrees. Most practitioners have walked firmly on the path of cultivation and did the three things very smoothly with righteous thoughts and actions.
Under the current situation, however, some practitioners still have an attachment to time. Some hope the persecution will end as soon as possible. Others want to know when they can reach consummation. They all have a strong attachment to time and look forward to the end of Fa-rectification.
“Let me ask you, if it would take another ten years to save all sentient beings, would you still do it? (The students reply together, "Yes!") (Applause) That's how a Dafa disciple should be.” (Touring North America to Teach the Fa)
I started to count time and thought that Fa-rectification would definitely end by 2012.
I excitedly told my family who do not practice that the persecution would be over in 2012. Some fellow practitioners occasionally said that the persecution was about to end. One practitioner whose celestial eye is open even said which month and day our cultivation would end. Saying these things stirred other practitioners’ hearts, and many could not focus on practicing. When the date came and went and nothing happened my family laughed at me, and I became depressed.
After this lesson I realized that I should not be attached to time. I deeply looked inward into why I was so attached to time. Was it because I wanted to escape difficulty, tribulations, and danger? My attachment to comfort also made me attached to time.
In my understanding, Master teaches us how to practice, just like a parent teaches a child how to walk. When the persecution began in 1999, many practitioners who had just begun practicing had no idea what to do. They were at a loss. At this time, Master guided us on how to be Dafa disciples in the Fa-rectification period.
“Your enlightened, original nature will automatically know what to do.” (“Expounding on the Fa,” Essentials For Further advancement)
I thought my attachment to time was gone. One day, a fellow practitioner asked me, “What will you do if the Fa-rectification will last thirty years, fifty years more, or even your whole life?” My heart sank. My first reaction was that it would not last so long. Afterward, I asked myself why I felt disappointed. I realized it was because I was still attached to time. I asked myself if I would continue to cultivate if Fa-rectification lasted that long. I told myself that I would continue to cultivate and return to my true home with Master no matter how long it took.
I suddenly let go of my attachment to time. I have chosen the path of cultivation, and I have obtained the Fa. Why am I attached to time?
I suggest that every practitioner ask themselves: Will you continue to cultivate even if Fa-rectification continues for another thirty or fifty years?
