(Minghui.org) A Changchun City, Jilin Province resident detained for her faith in Falun Gong is still awaiting the verdict following a court hearing on September 28, 2020.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Fu Guihua, 55, was seized by the police on August 15, 2019 during a group arrest of local Falun Gong practitioners. She has been held at the Siping City Detention Center since. When her lawyer went to visit her on October 30, 2020, the guards denied his request and said that the Domestic Security Office had issued a special order that no Falun Gong practitioner is allowed to meet with their lawyers.
Ms. Fu took up Falun Gong in 1996, and she credits the practice for curing her many ailments and enabling her to let go of her hatred and resentment. She became more calm and considerate.
In 2001, two years after the communist regime ordered the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Fu was forced to leave her eight- and ten-year-old daughters, and live away from home for the next ten years to avoid being arrested.
After Ms. Fu was arrested in 2013 and sentenced to three years, her two daughters, Ms. Yu Jianping and Ms. Yu Jianli, who have grown up, filed complaints against Tang Ke, the head of the Nong’an County Domestic Security Office, for arresting their mother. The police arrested them in retaliation and detained them for ten days.
Shortly after Ms. Fu was released in 2016, both of her daughters got married. She moved in with her younger daughter, Ms. Yu Jianping, in 2019, after the young woman gave birth to a boy.
During the group arrest on August 15, 2019, nine members of the family were arrested, including Ms. Fu, her husband Mr. Yao Deyi, Ms. Yu Jianping’s husband Mr. Meng Xiangqi, Mr. Meng’s parents (Mr. Meng Fanjun and Ms. Wang Guizhen), Ms. Fu’s other daughter Ms. Yu Jianli, Ms. Yu Jianli’s husband Mr. Wang Dongji and Mr. Wang’s parents (Mr. Wang Kemin and Ms. Wang Fengzhi).
All of them are now awaiting verdicts after the hearing on September 28.
