(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 36 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Jieyang City, Guangdong Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Chen Meihua, Ms. Huang Aihua, and Mr. Huang Luanqing were taken to the Jiedong Detention Center in June 2020 and were later sentenced to prison.
Ms. Chen was given two years and fined 20,000 yuan.Ms. Huang was given 12 months and fined 10,000 yuan.Mr. Huang was given two years and three months.
2. [Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Zhang Yuhua Sentenced
Ms. Zhang Yuhua was arrested on August 8, 2019, after someone reported her for distributing Falun Gong fliers. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Xilin Detention Center.
Ms. Zhang was tried and sentenced to three and a half years in prison by the Tianning District Court on September 27, 2020. She has since appealed.
3. [Xuchang City, Henan Province] Ms. Pan Yuhuan and Ms. Yang Xinhong Formally Arrested
Ms. Pan Yuhuan and Ms. Yang Xinhong were arrested by officers from the Guicun Township Police Station on August 22, 2020, after someone reported them for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked. They were taken to the Xuchang County Hospital for a physical exam, then to the Xuchang City Detention Center.
They have been formally placed under arrest by the Jianan District Procuratorate.
4. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Qiufang Repeatedly Harassed
Ms. Liu Qiufang, in her 70s, was harassed at home by agents from her community on September 18, 2020. They tried to pressure her into signing a guarantee statement to stop practicing Falun Gong. She refused.
Ms. Liu was harassed at home by four agents and a community officer on September 25. They demanded that she sign the statement and slander Falun Gong and its founder on video. Ms. Liu refused.
5. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Chen Tianxia Facing Trial, Three Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Chen Tianxia was arrested twice after she was caught on surveillance camera distributing Falun Gong fliers, once in May 2020 the other in July. She was released on bail pending trial after the July arrest. The trial is scheduled to take place in about a year's time.
Two sisters from the Hu family and the younger sister’s husband Mr. Wang Delong were arrested in early 2020. The sisters were released, while Mr. Wang is being held in the Hefei City Detention Center. Mr. Wang previously had cancer, but it disappeared after he started practicing Falun Gong.
6. [Xinxiang City, Henan Province] Ms. Zhu Fenglan’s Case Submitted to Procuratorate, Practitioner Yang Detained and Released
Ms. Zhu Fenglan was arrested at home by officers from the Weibin District Police Department on August 28, 2020. Her case has been submitted to the Weibin Procuratorate.
Practitioner Yang, gender unknown, was arrested at home by officer Ma Donghai and others from the Weibei Police Department on the morning of September 28. Yang was detained for five days and released on October 4.
7. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Yanjie Detained, Her Husband and Daughter Arrested
Ms. Li Yanjie, in her 50s, was arrested by officers from the Longgang Police Department on March 12, 2020. Her home was ransacked, and Falun Gong materials, a printer, cell phones, memory cards, savings card, and other personal belongings were confiscated.
Ms. Li was handcuffed and taken to the Longgang Police Department that night. Her husband and daughter, who do not practice Falun Gong, were also taken. Her daughter was released the next morning. Her husband was released in the afternoon.
Ms. Li was taken to the Dorbod County Detention Center on the afternoon of March 13, 2020. She was later transferred to the Daqing City Detention Center. The Longgang Police Department submitted her case to the Ranghu Road Procuratorate.
8. [Chongqing] Ms. Bai Shuying Harassed
Ms. Bai Shuying, 68, has been repeatedly harassed at home since April 2020. Agents went to her son’s office and forced him to help them. Her son took home a guarantee statement, repentance statement, and other documents, and tried to force his mother to sign them.
9. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wu Lijun and Elderly Practitioner Arrested, Ms. Yan Jinxia Detained
Ms. Wu Lijun and an elderly practitioner were arrested in the afternoon of September 22, 2020. They were released later that night.
Ms. Yan Jinxia was arrested at work by officers from the Youzheng Police Station on the evening of September 22. She has been held in a building located behind the Police Hospital.
10. [Zigong City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Peng Junying Harassed
Ms. Peng Junying was called to the community office on the afternoon of September 22, 2020. She met seven people there including the director of the district's Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and officers from the Domestic Security Division and police station. They demanded that she sign the three statements. Ms. Peng refused.
11. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhang Huaping Harassed
Ms. Zhang Huaping works in the Hubei Industry University library. People from the university and the Shizishan Community Comprehensive Management Office tried to force her to write the three statements. They also threatened to fire her from her job and send her for brainwashing sessions.
12. [Beijing] Ms. Li Xiuhua Missing, Ms. Wang Liyun Detained
Ms. Li Xiuhua’s home is situated in the family compound of China University of Geosciences in Beijing. She has been missing since early August 2020.
Ms. Wang Liyun was arrested at home by officers from the Shuangyushu Police Station on October 4. Her home was ransacked, and Falun Gong books, a printer, computer, and other personal belongings were confiscated. She is being held in the Haidian District Detention Center.
13. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Cui Shuzhen Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Cui Shuzhen, 66, from Yantai City was arrested at her daughter’s home in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province on March 12, 2019. She had been seen talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong and was being followed by plainclothes police. The officers followed her to her daughter’s home, arrested her, and ransacked the place. She was taken to the Hangzhou Detention Center.
Ms. Cui was sentenced to 21 months in prison and fined 20,000 yuan by the Xiaoshan District Court in Hangzhou on July 1, 2020. She is incarcerated in the Zhejiang Province Women’s Prison.
14. [Xuchang City, Henan Province] Practitioners Deprived of Pension
Some practitioners have had their pension payments stopped by the Xuchang Social Security Bureau since September 2020. The following practitioners are included.
Ms. Wang Xiuzhen, 66, was arrested in October 2015 and sentenced to three years in prison. She was released in 2018. Her pension was stopped in September 2020.
Mr. Dai Yanliang, 68, was arrested in July 2018 and sentenced to 18 months in prison. He was released in January 2020. His pension was stopped in September.
Ms. Li Junqing, 67, was arrested in October 2018 and sentenced to three and a half years in prison. Her pension was stopped in September.
Ms. Zhang Ronghuan, 72, was arrested in April 2013 and sentenced to four and a half years in prison. She was released in October 2017. The Xuchang Social Security Bureau did not pay her pension during her incarceration. Ms. Zhang passed away in late July 2020.
15. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Six Practitioners Arrested and Released, Mr. Mao Dejun Formally Arrested
Seven practitioners were arrested in a coordinated raid against practitioners and their families on August 11, 2020. The Junan County Political and Legal Affairs Committee, 610 Office, and Comprehensive Management Office ordered the Junan Domestic Security Division, the Chengxi Police Station, and the Chengbei Police Station to conduct the raid.
Six of the practitioners were released. Mr. Mao Dejun was formally arrested and remains in detention. The Junan County Procuratorate plans to file charges again him with the Linshu County Court.
16. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Chaoying Arrested
Ms. Wang Chaoying was arrested by plainclothes officers on the evening of October 6, 2020, after someone reported her for distributing Falun Gong fliers. She was taken to the Yanqing District.
17. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Fenglan and Her Husband Taken to Police Station
Ms. Wang Fenglan returned home from grocery shopping on the afternoon of September 22, 2020, and found several officers ransacking the place. They confiscated a picture of Falun Gong's founder, Falun Gong books, and two 2021 Falun Gong calendars.
Ms. Wang and her husband, who does not practice Falun Gong, were taken to the Jinxiang Police Station and were forced to sign documents.
18. [Linjiang City, Jilin Province] Ms. Gao Xiuyun Harassed and Extorted
Ms. Gao Xiuyun, 80, was released on bail after she was tried by the Jiangyuan Court. Three people from the court went to harass her several times after she returned home, and forced her to pay 10,000 yuan. The people from the court did not allow Ms. Gao's family members to take photos of them or record the conversations, and even confiscated their cell phones.
Her daughter Ms. Jiang Xueyan who is still in police custody was forced to pay 30,000 yuan.
19. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Gao Changlian Harassed
Ms. Gao Changlian has received several phone calls from the neighborhood committee since September 16, 2020. They demanded that she stop practicing Falun Gong and sign their document.
