Two Sichuan Women’s Pensions Suspended Because of Their Faith
(Minghui.org) Two Nanchong City, Sichuan Province residents have had their pensions suspended since August 2020 because of their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Chen Bihui, 60, went to the social security office to demand the reinstatement of her pension, as she had made the contributions on her own without her employer's matching funds and the pension is her personal asset. Li Xiaoying, the official who received her, said their office was following government policy in making the decision to suspend her pension.
This isn’t the first time that Ms. Chen has been targeted for her faith, which she credits for curing her many ailments, including rheumatism, bronchitis, frozen shoulder, lumbar problem, headache, gastritis, and cholecystitis. She was previously detained, had her home ransacked, and was fined multiple times. She was taken to a local brainwashing center several times, given two labor camp terms, and sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
The other practitioner whose pension was suspended, Ms. Chen Xiulan (no relation), has also been repeatedly arrested and detained for her faith in Falun Gong. Ms. Chen used to work at a gas company in Chengdu and moved to Nanchong after she retired. She was previously sentenced to two years following an arrest in June 2016.
