Sister-in-law Lives by the Principles of Truth, Compassion, Forbearance
(Minghui.org) My husband and I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1998. After studying the Falun Dafa books, we felt that Dafa cultivation practice was very good. We mailed a set of Dafa books to our hometown and my sister-in-law started to practice also.
At the end of 2005, my husband’s younger brother died in a car accident. My sister-in-law was only 37 years old, and my nephew was in high school. Many people felt that she was still young and should marry again. At that time, there were indeed many people who tried to be a match-maker for my sister-in-law.
A relative noticed that it was not easy for her to raise a child alone and wanted to help. She introduced her to a teacher who agreed that if they married, he would help my sister-in-law raise the child. For my sister-in-law, who lived in the countryside and relied on farming as the only income, marrying a teacher meant living a life without worry. However, my sister-in-law did not agree to marry this man.
Later, this relative introduced her to another man who appeared to be a good match for her. This relative sincerely wanted to help and tried to persuade her, but my sister-in-law did not agree to marry this man either.
My sister-in-law talked about these things with me afterward. She said that on the one hand, she didn’t want to marry again because of her child. She was afraid the child might be unfairly treated or not adjust to a new father in his life. On the other hand, her parents-in-law were getting older. If she remarried who would take care of them? My husband and I worked in another city and my nephew was still young and in school. There was only my sister-in-law who could stay with the elderly couple. After my husband’s brother passed away, the parents-in-law moved in to live with her. She said that if she hadn’t learned Falun Dafa, she would not have agreed to take on this living arrangement.
In this way, my sister-in-law stayed on the farm. She took on the farm chores, learning to drive a tractor, and doing all the work herself. The elderly father-in-law sometimes gave her a hand. She took care of the child and the elders. In order to earn more money to support the family, she worked hard and set up a vegetable stand, which she ran by herself for two years. The beans she grew always sold at a good price because she packaged the vegetables well and vendors like to buy from her. My sister-in-law behaves according to the Falun Dafa principles: Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
One day in September 2013, my mother-in-law fell while washing clothes at home. She was hospitalized and lost the ability to take care of herself. It was my sister-in-law who took care of all her needs. My mother-in-law cried and told her: “I didn’t do anything for you, but you are taking care of me.” After my mother-in-law passed away, my sister-in-law insisted on spending 3000 yuan for the funeral. My husband and I strongly rejected that idea, feeling that would pose a great burden on her. In the end, she insisted on giving 1000 yuan.
In the winter of 2014, my father-in-law had a stroke and was hospitalized for two weeks. My husband only stayed for a few days due to work. The rest of the time we all relied on my sister-in-law. The next year, my sister-in-law paid to install floor tiles, a water pipe, and a heater in my father-in-law’s room. It is a much cozier room now and my father-in-law was very happy.
Everyone witnessed what my sister-in-law did for the family. They all agreed that she was a good person and that nowadays it was hard to find this in our society.
In 2020, my sister-in-law, her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, all came to our place to celebrate the New Year. They took out four red envelopes, each containing 1,000 yuan. Two were for my son and daughter-in-law and another was for making truth clarification materials to save people. The fourth envelope was for me to spend on caring for our father-in-law, who had now lived with us for more than a year. I accepted the red envelope for making Dafa materials but not the money given to me. Taking care of our father-in-law is what we should do. In fact, my sister-in-law doesn’t have much money herself. It was the money that her son and daughter-in-law gave her for taking care of their daughter.
In today’s society, how many people would take care of their child and their elderly in-laws despite their own hardships in life? Because my sister-in-law is a Falun Dafa practitioner, she did it. Falun Dafa teaches people to be good and always considers others first. My sister-in-law stayed on the farm and supported her in-laws; it was Falun Dafa that saved our big family!
Falun Dafa has spread to more than 100 countries and regions around the globe. There are hundreds of millions of Falun Dafa cultivators in all walks of life around the world. Among them are farmers, doctors, teachers, officials, soldiers, and professors. Dafa practitioners who are doctors do not accept bribes; Dafa disciples who are teachers do not accept gifts from their students’ parents; Dafa disciples who are in charge of finances do not make false accounts or seek personal interests; and those that are officials are not greedy for money... Dafa practitioners in all walks of life consciously discipline themselves according to the Falun Dafa principles: Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Falun Dafa practitioners from all walks of life are good people with noble morals.
