Additional Persecution News from China – January 9, 2020 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 21 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Chen Xiuhua and Ms. Yan Chunhua Sentenced to Prison
2. [Shangqiu City, Henan Province] Ms. Chen Chunyan Held in Detention Center
3. [Yiyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Xiang Biyun Held in Detention Center
4. [Chongqing] Mr. Liu Zhiming and Two Other Practitioners Arrested
5. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Jiang Zhaoxiang and Ms. Liu Xiuyu Arrested
6. [Bengbu City, Anhui Province] Ms. Wu Jufeng Sentenced to Prison
7. [Beihai City, Guangxi Autonomous Region] Ms. Hua Shaolan and Ms. Cheng Haiying Detained
8. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Changlan and Ms. Li Jianmei Sentenced to Prison, Ms. Li Chunxiao Detained

10. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Mingfu Arrested

1. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Chen Xiuhua and Ms. Yan Chunhua Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Chen Xiuhua and Ms. Yan Chunhua were tried by the Daoli District Court on December 3, 2019. Both practitioners were sentenced to two-year prison terms.

2. [Shangqiu City, Henan Province] Ms. Chen Chunyan Held in Detention Center

Ms. Chen Chunyan was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Zhecheng County Domestic Security Division on December 23 or 24, 2019. She is being held in Zhecheng County Detention Center.

3. [Yiyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Xiang Biyun Held in Detention Center

Ms. Xiang Biyun, in her 50s, has been missing since December 26, 2019. It was learned after much inquiry that she is being held in the Yiyang City Detention Center.

4. [Chongqing] Mr. Liu Zhiming and Two Other Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Liu Zhiming, Mr. Yang Qi, and another practitioner with the last name Wu, from Changshou District, were arrested on January 8, 2020 when they were posting New Year couplets with information about Falun Gong.

5. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Jiang Zhaoxiang and Ms. Liu Xiuyu Arrested

Ms. Jiang Zhaoxiang, 80, and Ms. Liu Xiuyu, 78, were arrested by officers from the Nanjinqiao Police Station when they were talking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of January 4, 2020. The police ransacked Ms. Liu’s home that afternoon, and confiscated Falun Dafa books, materials, and over 200 paper currency bills with Falun Gong information written on them. Ms. Liu was taken to Yongxing Detention Center, but was brought home by her family that evening.

The officers ransacked Ms. Jiang’s home, and confiscated Falun Dafa books. They left immediately when Ms. Jiang passed out and fell to the floor.

6. [Bengbu City, Anhui Province] Ms. Wu Jufeng Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Wu Jufeng, 69, was again arrested in April 2019, and recently sentenced to a four-year-and-six-month prison term.

Ms. Wu has been brutally persecuted many times, including serving two forced labor terms totaling over four years. She was given a four-year-and-three-month prison term in 2014, and returned home in June 2018.

7. [Beihai City, Guangxi Autonomous Region] Ms. Hua Shaolan and Ms. Cheng Haiying Detained

Ms. Hua Shaolan was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested two months ago. She was detained for 15 days in the No. 2 Detention Center.

Five people broke into Ms. Cheng Haiying’s barbershop and ransacked it on the morning of December 11, 2019. They confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun, Minghui Weekly, and Falun Gong keepsakes. Ms. Cheng was taken to Xijie Police Station for interrogation. The police forcibly took her fingerprints and took her to a hospital for a physical examination. She was then taken to the Beihai City Detention Center for ten days of detention.

Four people from the Jinghai Town Government, the Gaode Police Station, and the Gaocai Village Committee, went to the home of Mr. Xu Jiafu and his wife Ms. Zheng Zhengxiang, and harassed them on the afternoon of December 26, 2019. They also went to Ms. Guoli Shanglian’s home and harassed her.

Shortly after, officers from Industrial Park Police Station broke into the couple’s home and ransacked it. Ms. Zheng was taken to the police station, where she was interrogated and forced to undergo a physical examination. She was released after 2:00 a.m. that night.

8. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Changlan and Ms. Li Jianmei Sentenced to Prison, Ms. Li Chunxiao Detained

Ms. Xu Changlan, in her 70s, was arrested in August 2019 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was held in the Dalian City Detention Center for six months. She was just given a three-year prison term. She has appealed.

Ms. Li Jianmei, 59, from Shahekou District, was given a one-year-and-six-month prison term by the Shahekou District Court, and taken to Liaoning Women's Prison on December 10, 2019.

Ms. Li was arrested and her home was ransacked on the morning of July 2, 2019, for distributing information about Falun Gong. She was held in the Yaojia Detention Center. Her family was notified on July 14 that she had been officially placed under arrest.

Ms. Li Chunxiao was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Ganjingzi District Police Department on December 18, 2019. She was detained for 15 days.

9. [Diaobingshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Cui Shenshan and Daughter Ms. Cui Hongyan Detained

Mr. Cui Shenshan and his daughter Ms. Cui Hongyan were monitored by Shenyang City police when they hung Falun Gong informational banners on the evening of January 4, 2020. They were arrested at their home by the Shenyang City police on the morning of January 6. It is not known where they are being held.

10. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Mingfu Arrested

Mr. Liu Mingfu was arrested on January 8, 2020.
