(Minghui.org) A Kunming City, Yunnan Province resident was sentenced to seven years in prison for her faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
This is the third time that Ms. Gao Huixian, 56, has been jailed for her faith. She was previously sentenced to threeyears in November 2003 and six years in September 2007. She was subjected to various forms of torture while serving time at Yunnan Province No. 2 Women’s Prison.
Ms. Gao was arrested on December 7, 2018, after being reported to police by He Shungui, the Communist Party secretary of Longqing Village, for giving him a calendar with information about Falun Gong on November 30, 2018.
Secretary He accepted the calendar from Ms. Gao on the spot, but later threw it away after seeing “Falun Dafa is good” on it.
The police confiscated Ms. Gao’s Falun Gong books and printer. Her family was kept in the dark about her detention location for about 20 days. Her elderly mother was grief-stricken about her latest ordeal and struggled to care for herself.
The Xishan District Procuratorate approved Ms. Gao’s arrest on December 20, 2018.
Her family later found out she was being detained at the Kunming City Detention Center.
Ms. Gao appeared in Xishan District Court on October 22, 2019. Secretary He provided a written witness account, but didn’t show up in court to accept cross-examination.
Mr. Gao was given the heavy sentence on November 19, 2019.
Ms. Gao used to work at Kunming Steel Company as a crane operator. She had suffered poor health since childhood and often had colds and fevers. Her health quickly improved after she began to practice Falun Gong. The spiritual teachings of Falun Gong also broadened her mind and enabled her to be more giving.
