Additional Persecution News from China – August 25, 2019 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 28 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Liangshan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Qiuju’s Case Turned Over to Procuratorate

Ms. Yang Qiuju was held in the Jiaxiang Detention Center for 12 days, from June 15, 2019 - June 28.

She was again arrested at home about five or six days later by officers from the Shouzhangji Town Police Station and the Liangshan County Domestic Security Division. The officers confiscated Falun Gong-related printed materials.

Ms. Yang has been held in the Jining Detention Center for over a month. Her case has been turned over to the Procuratorate.

2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yu Yinghua Officially Arrested

Ms. Yu Yinghua from Lushunkou District was officially placed under arrest by the Lushun Police Department. She was arrested on July 10, 2019. Ms. Yu is held in the Yaojia Detention Center.

3. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ma Chunrong Taken into Custody

Ms. Ma Chunrong was arrested at the Panjin Train Station checkpoint by officers from the Railway Police Department on August 21, 2019. Six or seven officers from the police department and the Xingsheng Police Station went to her home that evening, and confiscated a computer, Falun Dafa books, and about 10,000 yuan in paper bills which had information about Falun Gong printed on them. Ms. Ma was taken to the Panjin City Detention Center.

4. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Mr. Li Wenbo Arrested

Mr. Li Wenbo’s home in Kunyang, a historic town, was ransacked on August 23, 2019.

Afterward, over 20 officers broke into Mr. Li’s mother’s home. Four officers dragged Mr. Li, who was handcuffed and shackled, into the home and dropped him on the floor. They then ransacked the place and confiscated Falun Dafa books, a printer, a computer, a paper cutter, printing paper, and Internet access equipment.

5. [Chongqing] Ms. Liu Changxiu Arrested

Officers from the Tongyuanju Police Station, Nan’an District, broke into Ms. Liu Changxiu’s home and arrested her on the morning of August 22, 2019. They confiscated the Minghui Weekly and recorded lectures given by Falun Gong's founder. Ms. Liu was taken home later that evening.

6. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Qifen and Another Practitioner Taken into Custody

Nine officers from the Beiyuan Police Station, Kuiwen District, went to 71-year-old Ms. Liu Qifen’s home in Shawo Village, and arrested her and five other practitioners. They were studying the Falun Dafa teachings together on August 19, 2019. It was reported that four of the practitioners have since returned home. Ms. Liu and a male practitioner were taken to the Weifang City Detention Center. Ms. Liu’s home was ransacked.

7. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Xiao Zhanfang Detained

Ms. Xiao Zhanfang from Zhaozuo Village, Dongwang Town, was reported to the authorities for distributing Falun Gong materials and talking to people about Falun Gong on August 13, 2019. She and a male practitioner were arrested and taken to the Dingzhou City Police Department by officers from the Dongting Town Police Station.

Both practitioners were taken to the City Hospital for physical exams that afternoon, and then to the Dingzhou City Detention Center. Ms. Xiao was detained for seven days, and the male practitioner for five days.

8. [Jinchang City, Gansu Province] Mr. Liu Zheng Held in Custody

It was reported in recent days that Mr. Liu Zheng, 53, was held in custody for over a month. The police ransacked his home and confiscated Falun Dafa books, printed materials, and a computer.

9. [Nanyang City, Henan Province] Mr. Zhang Zhongyun and Wife Ms. Wang Baoqing Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Zhang Zhongyun and his wife Ms. Wang Baoqing from Sheqi County were sentenced to two years, and one year in prison, respectively. They were arrested in September 2018 and October 2018, respectively.

10. [Shanghai] Mr. Zhao Xiaowei and Mr. Yu Zaiqing Arrested

Mr. Zhao Xiaowei and Mr. Yu Zaiqing were arrested at the Lianyang Post Office, Pudong New Area, on the morning of August 23, 2019. They were taken to the Pudong New Area No. 1 Detention Center. The police ransacked their homes and confiscated all their Falun Dafa books, materials, and a sound recorder.

11. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Kong Qingchun Abused in Prison

Ms. Kong Qingchun has been held in the Dongling Prison in Shenyang City. She refused to engage in forced labor, and insisted on practicing the Falun Gong exercises. As a result she was brutally abused by Zhang Baining, head of the ward, and other guards. She was handcuffed all day long, and was prevented from buying necessities from the prison store.

12. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Six Practitioners Arrested, Two Held in Custody

More than twelve officers from Kuiwen District and the Beiyuan Police Station broke into Ms. Liu Qifen’s home on the afternoon of August 19, 2019. They arrested Ms. Liu, and five other practitioners, including Ms. Jiang Fang, Mr. Wei Yanhe, Ms. Yu Jinying, Ms. Xu Cuihua, and another practitioner with the last name Sun. The officers ransacked Ms. Liu’s home and confiscated all her Falun Dafa books, materials, and cash.

The six practitioners were taken to the police station, where they were held in an iron cage. They were later taken to the Weifang City People’s Hospital for a physical exam, then to the Weifang City Detention Center. Ms. Jiang, Ms. Xu, and Sun were denied admission by the detention center officials. Ms. Liu and Mr. Wei remain in custody.

13. [Ningcheng County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Bao Yuxia Held in Custody

Ms. Bao Yuxia from Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province, was arrested by officers from the Wuhua Police Station when she was talking to people about Falun Gong at the Sanshijiazi farmers market in Wuhua Town, Ningcheng County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, on August 21, 2019. She is being held in the Tianyi Detention Center. Her 80-year-old mother has been left at home unattended.

14. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhou Jinsong Taken into Custody

Mr. Zhou Jinsong was arrested and taken to the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center by officers from the Railway Police Station at the Changchun Train Station on August 11, 2019.

15. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Jiang Jun Abused in Prison

Ms. Jiang Jun was arrested on April 25, 2014. She was held in the No. 8 Ward, Women's Prison, Shenyang Prison City. She has been placed under strict management since March 2019. Her arm was severely bruised due to abuse. Visits from her family were denied in June and July.

16. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhang Xia and Mr. Wen Dongqing Taken into Custody

Ms. Zhang Xia was reported to the authorities and arrested by officers from the Qingping Town Police Station for distributing Falun Gong materials in Qingping Town on August 4, 2019. She was taken to the Xiashan District Brainwashing Center the following day.

Mr. Wen Dongqing was arrested by officers from the Chengbei Police Station when he was distributing information about Falun Gong in Chengbei Park around the end of July 2019. He was released that day. He was again arrested and taken to the Lianjiang Detention Center in early August.
