(Minghui.org) Two men imprisoned for their faith have been on a hunger strike for three weeks in protest of the confiscation of their Falun Gong books.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Wang Jun and Mr. Zhang Hongtian started the hunger strike on August 19, 2019 after the guards at Baoanzhao Prison in Inner Mongolia confiscated their Falun Gong books.
Mr. Wang was sent to solitary confinement three days later. When he was carried out on August 27, he was tied up and his head was hanging down.
Mr. Wang, in his 40s, was arrested on September 6, 2015 for distributing materials about Falun Gong and sentenced to seven years on July 19, 2016. He was sent to Baoanzhao Prison in January 2017.
Mr. Zhang, a retired military officer, was recently imprisoned to serve a six-year term for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Communist Party who ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999.
