(Minghui.org) I’m 77-years-old and I live in a farming village. Since I live alone, other practitioners are able to meet at my house to study the Falun Dafa teachings.
We have tried to maintain our cultivation environment despite the harsh persecution, but naturally, we’ve occasionally had xinxing conflicts.
I go out to talk to people about Falun Dafa and the persecution every day. One practitioner in our group, Ann (alias), is young, well-educated, and very articulate, but she does not go out to clarify the truth. Ann only joins us for Fa study in the evenings.
I was worried about her. When I urged her to step forward Ann responded by saying things that were not based on the Fa principles.
I felt bad and looked inward. I realized that I had not been kind to her, and the tone of my voice was harsh. Master said,
“While working, your tone of voice, your kindheartedness, and your reasoning can change a person’s heart, whereas commands never could!” (“Clearheadedness,” Essentials for Further Advancement)
I also noticed that I had an attachment to being competitive, so I sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate it.
After I examined myself for my shortcomings, the following evening Ann told me that she had said many inappropriate things. I was touched by what she said and her sincerity.
There was a practitioner who fanned herself while we read the Fa. Although this bothered me, I kept my mouth shut. While I tried to find what my problem was, I came across Master’s lecture,
“The Fa has different requirements for cultivators at different levels.” (“Non-Omission,” Essentials for Further Advancement)
From these experiences I understood that I lacked compassion and tolerance. Master said,
“You should always maintain a heart of compassion and kindness. Then, when you run into a problem, you will be able to do well...” (Lecture Four, Zhuan Falun)
After I read this, I felt calm. I will continue to study the Fa, and assimilate to it.
