(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 22 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Hongyan Persecuted in Prison

Ms. Wang Hongyan, held at the Eighth Ward of Jilin Province Women's Prison, is subject to severe abuse. She is only allowed to use the toilet twice a day and is forced to sit on a small bench for 7 or 8 hours as part of the so-called “transformation.”

2. [Shanghai] Seven Practitioners Arrested

Seven practitioners were arrested by officers from the Minhang Domestic Security Division on May 14, 2019. Five of them are Ms. Xu Jiayu, Ms. Yu Guilan, Ms. Dong Yunfen, Ms. Huang Qiaoqin, and Ms. Yan Meiying. They are all detained at the Fengxian District Detention Center in Shanghai.

3. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Practitioner Arrested

A female practitioner was arrested by officers from the Jinma Police Station on May 13, 2019, for distributing informational DVDs about the persecution of Falun Gong. Officers from the police station and the Shuguang Police Station ransacked her home and confiscated paper money that had information about Falun Gong, informational materials, and Falun Gong books. Her daughter, who tried to talk to the police, was also arrested and taken to the Guandu District Detention Center.

4. [Xingyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Zhang Xiaorong Arrested

Ms. Zhang Xiaorong was arrested by several officers from the Domestic Security Division on May 12, 2019.

5. [Heze City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wu Juan Detained

Ms. Wu Juan, from Heze City, was arrested in Suzhou City and taken to the Pangzhuang Police Station in Xuzhou City on May 6, 2019, when she went there to visit relatives. She was detained and released the next day.

6. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Qiwen Arrested and Several Practitioners Imprisoned

Mr. Wang Qiwen was arrested by officers from the Yangshulin Town Police Station on May 11, 2019. He was detained for five days.

Mr. Wang's sister-in-law Ms. Sun Shiying, nephew Mr. Wang Hongyan, and niece Ms. Wang Hongyan were tried by the Chaoyang District Court in Changchun City. They were all sentenced to two-and-a-half-year prison terms. Ms. Sun and Ms. Wang are currently imprisoned at the Eighth Ward of Jilin Province Women's Prison and Mr. Wang Hongyan at Changchun No. 1 Detention Center. Mr. Wang Qibo, Mr. Wang's younger brother, died at a prison in 2007 due to persecution.

7. [Tianjin] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Liu Weirong, Ms. Liu Lixiang, and Ms. Feng Shuzhi were arrested by officers from the Yuanyangcheng Police Division in Binhaixin District on May 14, 2019, for talking to people over the phone about the persecution of Falun Gong.

8. [Jiayin County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Junyue Arrested and Ms. Gao Ailing Harassed

Ms. Wang Junyue was arrested at home by three officers on May 9, 2019. The police ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong, computers, printers, printing paper, and 30,000 yuan in cash.

Ms. Gao Ailing was harassed and her home was searched on May 12.

9. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhao Li Arrested

Ms. Zhao Li, around 75, was arrested and had her home ransacked by twelve officers from the Zhongshan Police Station on April 18, 2019. The police confiscated Falun Gong books and other personal items. She was taken to the police station and released that afternoon.
