(Minghui.org) Ms. Shen Zhongqin, 64, from Shenhe District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, was given a three-and-a-half-year prison term by the Shenbei New Area Court on February 17, 2019.
Ms. Shen's husband was originally a railway policeman. He suffers from severe lung disease and is bedridden year round. He relied on Ms. Shen to take care of his daily needs. After Ms. Shen was arrested by officers from the Huishan Police Station in September 2018, her husband was left at home alone. He barely survived on snacks brought by relatives. He is not able to eat much. He is in great distress and anxiously waits for his wife's return.
Arrested and Sentenced
Ms. Shen went to the Puhe Town farmers’ market in Shenbei New Area to buy groceries at around 10 a.m. on September 22, 2018. Shortly after arriving, she was arrested by two officers led by Li Jie, deputy head of the Huishan Police Station. The other, shorter officer knocked 63-year-old Ms. Shen to the ground before forcibly taking her to the police station. At around two or three o'clock that afternoon, four officers led by Li Jie crossed district boundaries to search Ms. Shen's home, where they confiscated some of her personal belongings.
Ms. Shen was taken to the Shenyang City No. 1 Detention Center on September 23, 2018. The officers boasted that the procuratorate would issue the official arrest warrant within three days.
Ms. Shen was tried and given a three-and-a-half-year prison term by the Shenbei New Area Court on February 17, 2019.
