(Minghui.org) I started to practice Falun Dafa in 2011. For the eight years I have cultivated, Master has been guiding and protecting me every step along my path. It is just like Master said, “I treasure you more than you treasure yourselves.” (“Eliminate Your Last Attachment(s),” Essentials for Further Advancement II)

Letting Go of Resentment

I didn’t like to study. To reduce the burden on my parents, I quit school and went to south China as a migrant laborer before I was 16 years old. I was optimistic but due to my lack of skills, I moved from job to job.

My cousin took pity on me and asked if I would like to take classes on budgeting. “It could be a turning point,” he said. I agreed to his suggestion and he lent me the tuition for my studies at a secondary school for three years.

That was indeed a turning point in my life. My cousins opened a small company for house construction budgeting and both were very busy. When they had a baby, their mother came to take care of the infant.

She harassed, ridiculed, and laughed at me after I came home from school. I did not fight back. The situation got so bad that I ran out of the house one day. I really resented her and thought about quitting school and moving out.

Then, I remembered Falun Dafa because my mother is a practitioner. She had talked to me about this cultivation practice when I was little. I remembered what Master had said in Zhuan Falun. Gradually, I let go of my resentment towards my aunt.

Master said,

“In cultivation, when you’re really having trouble with somebody, or when other people treat you badly, it could be one of two scenarios. One is that you might have mistreated them in your previous life. You feel wronged, "Why are they treating me like that?" Well, why did you treat them like that before? You say, "I don’t know anything about back then. This lifetime has nothing to do with that lifetime." But it doesn’t work like that. There’s another scenario. When you’re clashing with somebody, there’s the issue of transforming karma involved, so when we’re handling each of them we should be very forgiving, and we shouldn’t act like ordinary people.” ( The Fourth Talk, Zhuan Falun)

Clarifying Truth to Classmates

The school organized a party for teachers and students in 2012. I decided to go, because it would be an opportunity to clarify the truth to my fellow students.

Before leaving, I thanked Master Li (the founder) for this opportunity. I then took some amulets and left for the party. I kept reciting “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” on my way to the event.

Throughout the banquet, I didn’t have the courage to talk about Dafa. My heart was beating fast and I worried about lacking the skill to give a speech, of being different, and losing face.

After the banquet, a student suggested singing some Karaoke songs. I knew Master was giving me a second chance. They sang one song after another, but I didn’t sing. My mind was full of conflicting thoughts.

Finally, I knew I had come to clarify the truth so I walked up to the platform and took the microphone and told them that I had something important to share. I asked them if they had ever heard of Falun Dafa. No response, so I started to talk.

I said, “Falun Dafa has spread to more than 100 countries. It is a Buddha School’s teaching, a cultivation practice that improves one’s mind and body at the same time. Many members of my family practice Falun Dafa.

“My mother had more than a dozen ailments, and she recovered after she began to practice Dafa. I changed from being short-tempered to being obedient. Although I was once selfish, I became considerate. And I also attained better health after practicing Falun Dafa.”

I talked about the staged immolation on Tiananmen Square, and the organ harvesting from imprisoned practitioners, I began to cry and reminded them to remember “Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”

The teacher came up, held me in her arms, and said, “Teacher knows it and heard it. The Party is so bad. All Chinese people know the officials are very corrupt. We appreciate you telling us about Dafa. Please pay attention to your own safety.”

Everyone accepted a Dafa amulet as they left.

Refusing to “Cook the Books”

I accepted a job in the house construction budget office in another city. I followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in my work and in my relations with others.

I had a good working relationship with colleagues and friends, but the environment of a large city is very tempting, and there are a lot of traps to seduce a young person. So I decided to quit the job and go back to my home town.

Returning home, I found a job as a document filer at a natural gas company. My responsibility was to collect, print and file documents. But what I took on was a big mess, with annual reports missing several pages.

Some colleagues thought that I wouldn’t last for more than a week. But I believed Master must have had a reason for me to be there, so I took on the responsibility to straighten out the mess.

One company leader asked me to make a fake payroll to evade taxes. I declined and clarified the truth to him. I talked about the persecution and the propaganda defaming Falun Dafa.

In the end, I told him I was sorry I couldn’t do as he requested, “I practice Falun Dafa. I can’t “cook the books” (alter facts or figures dishonestly).” He said, “Okay. I will do it myself in the future.”

Even so, I still felt more and more frustrated in such a corrupt environment and thought about quitting. One day a colleague said, “This is really a good cultivation environment!” I was stunned. I knew Master was using another person’s mouth to remind me.

I then changed my job again in 2018. This time I worked as a document filer at a construction company. Again I was asked to cook the books. I clarified the truth and explained why I would not commit a bad deed. My boss tried other times to have me cook the books but finally accepted my refusal.

Now, my boss trusts and respects me. He doesn’t worry about the money I handle, and I don’t mind any hard tasks. I never argue with customers and I am always considerate of others.
