A Life Renewed by Dafa

(Minghui.org) Before Mr. Li Guoliang, a resident of Henan Province, took up Falun Gong, an ancient Chinese spiritual and meditation discipline, he suffered a rare disease called ankylosing myelitis.

His spine was completely stiff from his neck to hip; his mobility was severely affected; and with his knee's limited flexibility, he could only move slowly. His finger bones and jawbone were also frozen to the point he could not use his hand and he could hardly open his mouth. He was that way for over 20 years and had a nervous breakdown at one point due to the intense suffering.

After Mr. Li began to practice Falun Gong, even though he could not do the five exercises, the healing power of Dafa still helped him a great deal. He is able to use his hand and open his mouth to eat. His mental state has also greatly improved.

Mr. Li wanted to be self-reliant, so he asked his family to purchase a tricycle for him. He used that as a street stand to sell small goods and was able to earn a living.

His story has inspired many people.

Mr. Li often told people how wonderful Falun Gong was and that it was wrong for the communist regime to persecute such a great practice. He also talked about Falun Gong’s three principles – Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance – and inspired people to become better.

A thief had a conversation with him once, and was so inspired that he gave up his bad behavior and started a legitimate business.

Mr. Li’s story was once published in the local media. A medical research institute also thought it a miracle to see the improvement in his physical condition. A doctor who saw him before was amazed to learn that Mr. Li was still alive and that his health had markedly improved.

Because of his belief, however, Mr. Li was arrested in December 2015. As he refused to give up Falun Gong, he was sentenced to Zhengzhou Prison. Even though he was severely disabled, he was brutally persecuted. He was roughed up during the arrest, and he was also physically abused by other inmates to the point that he was bedridden for 6 months.

No matter how brutal the persecution is, Mr. Li perseveres in his faith and tells of the wonder of Falun Gong to whoever he comes across. His experience is a testament to the wonder and magnificence of Falun Gong.
