(Minghui.org) Ms. Dai Shengnu was illegally arrested in Meiyu Township on the afternoon of January 23, 2017, for handing out calendars with Falun Gong information on them.
Ms. Dai, in her 70s from Mayu Town, Zhejiang Province, was taken to the Mayu Police Station for interrogation while her home was ransacked. She was transferred to the Rui'an City Police Department, where she was subjected to a physical examination; blood samples were taken. She was denied admission by a detention center due to high blood pressure and was released on bail at 4:00 a.m. the following morning.
The Rui'an City Police Department sent her case to the court, but it was dropped on January 17, 2018, due to insufficient evidence.
Officers from the Mayu Town Police Station visited her home three times in August 2018 to harass her. They first told her to go to the procuratorate for an inquiry. The second time, Ms. Dai was told to go to the court to pick up an indictment. The third time, she was taken to a hospital for a physical exam, and her blood pressure was measured at 205/12, which indicated serious hypertension.
Repeatedly Detained
Ms. Dai has been relentlessly persecuted for her faith in Falun Gong.
She was taken to a police station in January 2000 for doing the Falun Gong exercises in Guishan Park. Personnel from the 610 Office told her that she would be released if she promised not to practice Falun Gong, to which Ms. Dai replied, “I want to continue practicing. My life was saved by practicing Falun Gong.”
Ms. Dai was then illegally detained for one month at the Rui'an City Detention Center, and her family was fined 5,000 yuan (~$730 USD). Her Falun Gong books and recordings were confiscated. She was separately detained at a hotel for more than a week and fined 230 yuan (~$33 USD).
Someone reported Ms. Dai after she posted a banner about Falun Gong in November 2005. She was sentenced to one-and-a-half years in a labor camp, but the camp refused to take her because of her high blood pressure.
She was illegally arrested again in November 2007, and officers ransacked her home. She was sentenced to three years in prison in July 2008. The prison denied her admission due to her high blood pressure. The sentence was amended to four years of probation.
She was illegally arrested in October 2013 while handing out information about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison, but the prison refused to take her because of her poor health. She was instead sentenced to four years probation and fined 2,000 yuan (~$290 USD).
Ms. Dai has been taken to brainwashing sessions twice. Personnel from the 610 Office abducted her from her workplace in 2010 and took her to brainwashing sessions, where she was tortured. As a result of the torture, she vomited everything she ate and looked like a skeleton.
