(Minghui.org) Back in 2004, our residential community looked impoverished. The buildings were old, and the roads had potholes. We had to move slowly when riding a bicycle.
Then, a bright spot appeared in the community. A window made of aluminum alloy and two large glass panels were placed on the street. It shone in the glaring sun. Although it looked good, it could not be compared to the poor and old neighborhood.
We took a look at the panels and found that it was a propaganda column that defamed Falun Gong. Residents said, “The Communist Party is playing politics and abusing its power. It's reversing black and white and spreading lies.”
A few days later, the big picture on the propaganda column was painted over. Someone said, “This must have been done by Falun Gong practitioners. Who else dares to do it?”
Two days later, many self-adhesive “notes” appeared in the community. They read, “The Communist Party persecutes and defames Falun Gong. This is harmful to the residents. Falun Gong teaches people to be good and has benefited many people, restoring their health and them into better people. Because more and more people were learning Falun Gong, Jiang Zemin (former Communist Party leader who ordered the regime’s persecution of Falun Gong) became jealous. He didn't care about people's well being and stopped them from learning Falun Gong.”
What impressed the most about the notice was the last paragraph: “The community office should serve residents instead of harming them. It's more beneficial to spend the 2,000 yuan budget on repairing old roads than making a propaganda column to defame Falun Gong. That's what the residential community should be involved in.”
After the residents read the notice, some said, “It's Falun Gong practitioners who are out for our interest.”
To our surprise, the roads were repaired about one month later. The potholes were filled with asphalt. Residents no longer had to worry about getting into accidents, and the elderly no longer worried about tripping and falling while walking in the neighborhood.
I checked and found that only our section of the road was repaired, while other sections were not touched.
We appreciate the things Falun Gong practitioners took on and said. Without their getting involved, our roads would not have been repaired.
