(Minghui.org) Just before a Liaoning couple was about to take their son back to school after summer vacation, police officers arrived at their home and arrested them in front of their son.
Mr. Zhao Changfu and Ms. Sun Guangli were among a recent group arrest of Falun Gong practitioners at Liaoning Province between August 22 and 23, 2018.
Ms. Sun is currently detained at Chaoyang Women's Detention Center and Mr. Zhao is being held at Lingyuan City Detention Center. Because of the poor sanitary conditions, his feet are festering and discharging pus, making it difficult for him to walk.
It is unclear whether their son is living on his own or staying with a relative following the couple's detention.
Persecution for Not Giving Up Their Faith
The latest arrests weren't the first time they were targeted for their faith since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999.
Mr. Zhao was an automobile mechanic for a company in Lingyuan City but lost his job soon following the onset of the persecution.
In 2001, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong but was arrested and detained at Xidayingzi Forced Labor Camp in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province.
In 2010, Mr. Zhao took a friend to Beijing to see a doctor. While he was checking into the hotel, the front desk staff saw his information in the police's database of Falun Gong practitioners after scanning his flagged ID. They reported him to the police, resulting in his being sent to the labor camp again.
Ms. Sun was also arrested in 2015 and detained for 15 days because of her faith in Falun Gong.
