(Minghui.org) A man in his 70s said he was given unspecified medical treatments without his consent while imprisoned for upholding his spiritual belief in Falun Gong. When he rejected the treatments, the medical personnel beat him until he passed out.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice based on the principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance” that has been persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Wang was arrested for distributing Falun Gong desk calendars on December 10, 2016 and sentenced to 1.5 years in prison in 2017.
He told Minghui.org that the Jiazhou Prison initially rejected his admission due to his poor physical condition (after months of mistreatment in detention), but was then forced by the police to take him.
He said that 20 days after he was admitted to the prison, the guards took him to the prison hospital in Chengdu for medical treatment on September 14, 2017. Without discussing his condition with him, the doctor instructed the nurse to inject him with unknown drugs. They also forcibly inserted an endoscopic clamp into his lung and injected him with a contrast dye for a CT.
He said he experienced extreme discomfort after the treatments.
After an IV drip on October 11, 2017, the doctor didn't allow him to press the injection site with a cotton ball to stop the bleeding when he pulled the needle out. His wrist kept bleeding while he walked from the injection room on the second floor to his room on the seventh floor. He felt dizzy and short of breath because of the excessive bleeding.
One month later, the prison guard took him back to the prison on November 6, 2017, and forced him to do slave labor without pay.
Mr. Wang began to cough out blood while doing forced labor and his situation worsened over time.
The prison guards sent him back to the prison hospital on April 8, 2018. When he refused to accept the physical examination and drug administration, the prison guards beat him and forced him to stand for a long time.
After the guards left, they instructed the medical personnel to beat and kick him until he passed out. After that, they put him on an IV every day. But Mr. Wang said he continued to cough up blood with no improvement.
The prison authorities forcibly put him on an IV until four days before he was released on June 10, 2018.
Prior to the latest sentencing and imprisonment, Mr. Wang had been arrested nine times, sentenced to prison four times, and subjected to many inhumane tortures for his belief in Falun Gong.
