(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Shengliang and his wife Ms. Xiao Meijun, 70, are residents of Hengyang City, Hunan Province. They were arrested at their home on May 19, 2015, for distributing materials with information about Falun Gong. Later, both of them were sentenced to three years in prison.
They were released on June 18, 2018. However, their pensions were stopped, and they are now without an income.
Both Mr. Wang and Ms. Xiao were sentenced to three years in prison by the Xiangtan County Court on February 18, 2016. Ms. Xiao was sent to Changshan Women's Prison on July 14, 2016.
Like all Falun Gong practitioners in the prison, Ms. Xiao was confined in a solitary cell without windows. The prison guards ordered seven inmates to take turns monitoring and torturing her. The inmates often pushed, punched and kicked her. She was forced to stand or sit in a fixed position for extended periods of time. She was not allowed to use the restroom.
Ms. Xiao once lost consciousness from torture and was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.
When she was released on June 18, she was in a wheelchair and unable to take care of herself.
Mr. Wang was sent to the Hunan Wangling Prison on July 15, 2016. In prison, he was deprived of sleep and forced to stand for a long period of time. Once, he was slapped severely six times and lost his short-term memory for more than a year.
He was also confined in a solitary cell. Guards administered brainwashing sessions throughout the day. He was forced to watch videos that defamed Falun Gong and write thought reports. If the reports were not what the prison wanted, he was only allowed to sleep for three hours a day. Criminal inmates were also ordered to monitor Mr. Wang, placing him under constant mental stress.
In 2013, Mr. Wang was arrested and framed by the police. He was detained for seven months.
