(Minghui.org) A 74-year-old man serving time for his faith was thrice placed in solitary confinement for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline violently persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Mr. Li Shaogui and five fellow residents in Shangrao City were arrested on November 25, 2013, after being reported for spray-painting “Falun Dafa is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” in an effort to raise awareness of the persecution. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is the core principle of Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa.
All six practitioners were sentenced to prison, with Mr. Li receiving 5 years. He was ordered to serve time at Yuzhang Prison. As he held firm to his faith, the prison guards placed him in solitary confinement a total of three times. The longest time he was held alone was four months.
Mr. Li was handcuffed and shackled during each of his solitary confinements. To date, his ankles still have not healed from being shackled for long periods of time.
