Additional Persecution News from China – March 21, 2018 (13 Reports)

(Minghui.org)Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 4 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 11 were illegally arrested.

1. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Ms. Sun Meixiu Arrested

Ms. Sun Meixiu was arrested on the afternoon of March 9, 2018 by Jiang Manying from the Feihonglu Residential Community and officers from the Suxian Police Station, including Tan Penghua. Her home was ransacked.

2. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Lianrong Arrested, Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Sun Lianrong, 76, was arrested at her home on the afternoon of March 19, 2018. The police confiscated a computer and printer.

Ms. Sun's whereabouts are unknown.

3. [Xinxiang City, Henan Province] Ms. Zhang Yizhi Detained

Ms. Zhang Yizhi from Yanjin County was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in a residential community on March 16, 2018. She is being held in the Xinxiang City Detention Center.

4. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Haiyang Taken into Custody

Mr. Liu Haiyang from the Hanshan District was arrested at the Handan City Train Station on March 19, 2018. He was taken to the South Yuxin Police Station by South Yuxin Neighborhood Administration personnel. His home was ransacked and his Falun Gong books were confiscated.

5. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Cui Yumei and Ms. Ding Lianmei Arrested

Ms. Cui Yumei and Ms. Ding Lianmei from Xinbin County were arrested on the afternoon of March 19, 2018, for distributing Falun Gong materials. They were taken to the Xinbin Town Police Station, and their homes were ransacked.

Ms. Ding was released after paying a 1,000-yuan fine. Ms. Cui was also fined 1,000 yuan and held in the Nangou Detention Center for ten days.

6. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Married Couple Mr. Han Shengli and Ms. Lou Ying Detained

Ms. Lou Ying was arrested at her mother-in-law's home by officers from the Wensheng Police Department on March 19, 2018. She is being held in the Liaoyang Detention Center.

Her husband Mr. Han Shengli was arrested on June 28, 2016, and taken to the Liaoyang Detention Center. He was sentenced to a three-year prison term.

7. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Chen Xiaoyan Awaiting Trial

Ms. Chen Xiaoyan's trial was to be held in the Yantian District Court on March 23, 2018.

8. [Pingdingshan City, Henan Province] Ms. Liu Yuxia Taken to Prison

Ms. Liu Yuxia was taken to the Xinxiang Women's Prison on March 16, 2018, to serve a five-year term for refusing to renounce her belief in Falun Gong.

She was arrested on June 22, 2017, and was tried on December 22. Her family was notified of her sentence on December 28, 2017.

Ms. Liu filed an appeal, but the Pingdingshan City Intermediate Court upheld the original verdict without holding a public hearing.

Ms. Liu was previously imprisoned for five years in 2006 for her belief.

9. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Jiechun Tortured in Prison

Mr. Li Jiechun was arrested on September 7, 2016, for refusing to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. He was sentenced to five years in prison on February 4, 2017, and is being held in the Dalian Prison.

Mr. Li was tortured for five straight days in October 2017. He was forced to sit on a small bench every night and was deprived of sleep. Guard Zhang Zixuan beat him on the sixth day. Mr. Li then went on hunger strike to protest his mistreatment.

Two weeks later, guard Zhang tried to force Mr. Li to renounce his belief again. Mr. Li refused and went on hunger strike to protest the harassment.

10. [Suizhong County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Yonghua Facing Trial

Ms. Li Yonghua, 63, was arrested on November 20, 2017, for distributing Falun Gong calendars. Her health soon deteriorated, and she was released on bail on December 8, 2017.

Ms. Li's case was forwarded to the Suizhong County Procuratorate on February 11, 2018. The Procuratorate indicted her on February 28. Prosecutor Zhao Limei and four officers, including Wang Da and Liu Hongpeng, then delivered a copy of the indictment to Ms. Li on March 23, 2018. She refused to sign it, and was scheduled to appear in court on March 26, 2018.

11. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Gao Xiuhua Sentenced

Ms. Gao Xiuhua was arrested on June 28, 2016. She sentenced to a two-and-a-half-year prison term after two court hearings on April 27, 2017, and March 19, 2018, respectively.

Ms. Gao is being held in the Yingkou City Detention Center, where she is forced to do hard labor without pay. Her salary from her employer has also been suspended.

12. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Mr. Peng Shiqing Sentenced

Mr. Peng Shiqing, 54, was arrested on August 14, 2017, and sentenced to nine years in prison. His appeal letter was initially confiscated, but it has now been forward to the local appeals court.

Mr. Peng was imprisoned for eight years after his first arrest in 2001. His arms were severely injured from being tortured in prison.

13. [Linshu County, Shandong Province] Mr. Chen Xuejiang Sentenced

Mr. Chen was arrested in October 2017 for having informational materials about Falun Gong in his truck. He was taken to the Chonggou Detention Center.

The police also threatened his family. He was tried on March 6, 2018, and sentenced to two years in prison.

Mr. Chen was once detained for a month in 2000.
