(Minghui.org) A 67-year-old man in Nenjiang County was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

This is not the first time that Mr. Zhang has been targeted for his faith. He was detained at a local brainwashing center three times between March and August 2000. He was given three years of forced labor following his arrest in September 2002. When he was arrested again on November 19, 2007, he was sentenced to 6 years in prison. An inmate named Feng Jun once followed the prison guards' orders and beat Mr. Zhang so badly that he sustained severe injuries to his legs and had trouble taking care of himself. His family requested that he be released on medical parole, but to no avail.

Mr. Zhang's latest arrest took place on August 18, 2017. His wife was told on April 8, 2018 that he has been sentenced to prison again and was set to be moved Bei'an Prison the next morning. She had no clue of when Mr. Zhang was tried.
