(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhang Chuanfeng, a retired teacher in Chongqing, was sentenced to one year in prison with one year of probation on December 20, 2018 for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhang, 77, was home alone on November 8, 2017 when over 10 officers from Wanzhou Police Department and other branches appeared at 7 p.m. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, a computer, a printer and other personal belongings.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a meditation system based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Since the Chinese Communist Party began to persecute it in July 1999, its practitioners have been telling people about the practice and clarifying the hate propaganda perpetuated by the Party.
Ten days after her arrest, Ms. Zhang was released on bail by Wanzhou Police Department. Her case remained dormant for a year before she was sentenced to prison on December 20, 2018. The details of her trial remain to be investigated.
Ms. Zhang became much healthier after she began to practice Falun Gong about 20 years ago. She helped with household chores with ease, and she was very grateful to Falun Gong for the benefits.
The principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance also helped her become a better person. Living in an apartment complex shared with other families, she often picked up litter and cleaned the hallway. Once a young mother saw the scene and told her five-year-old son, “Look how nice the grandma [Ms. Zhang] is. We should learn from her.”
