Police Target Shaanxi Couple for Their Faith, Confiscate Large Sums of Funds from Their Home
(Minghui.org) Several police officers descended upon a Shaanxi couple's home in Fengxiang County on November 9, 2018 and ransacked their home. The couple's bank deposit certificate of 50,000 yuan, 6,000 yuan in cash, as well as their Falun Gong books were confiscated.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Zhaoxia was seized from their home. Her husband, Mr. Li Wusuo, was taken away from their deli.
The police next ransacked the couple's other residence and confiscated even more Falun Gong books from there. The homes of Mr. Li's two brothers were also raided.
The police kept the couple at Shijiaying Police Station, where they were restrained in metal chairs and interrogated for two days without sleep. Meanwhile, the police also called their son and daughter-in-law to the police station for interrogation.
After Mr. Li was released on the third day, Ms. Wang was transferred to the Mei County Detention Center in Baoji City, Shaanxi Province. She was detained there for one day before being released on bail after her son paid the bond.
It was later confirmed that the police targeted the couple upon seeing a Falun Gong practitioner being monitored by the 610 Office visiting their store. That practitioner, Mr. Yan Baoli, was later forced to live away from home to avoid being arrested himself.
